Is there any way you guys could bring in semi-auto RPDs or something similar?

I'm sure everyone and their brothers would want them.

Given the ability of the FRT lab to simply say no, at any time, even after saying yes, combined with the large engineering task, and the fact that no factories build the RPD, that is a no, for now at least.
 
anything with a belt is gping to be PERCIEVED as a machine gun whether it is or not- then they'll do their damndest to MAKE IT SO
the only reason that the 1919 et al semis are available is because they've been proven to be semis only and the batf in the states has PROVEN they CANNOT BE CONVERTED- and the court challange has already been won- kind of like kicking a dead horse- and they don't want to take it all the way to the scoc
 
done- and it's a general area weapon at best, not accurate in the least- a good part of it is that swing ammo box that's suspended fron the bottom or side- while it doesn't jam all THAT much, it has the same sensitive "feelings" about being fed like the '60- but you can't pull the old c-rat trick b/c of the feedway- the rpk was much more relaible

Wiselite builds rpd's from new receivers i believe. Too much of an investment and risk for a dealer to bring in a shipment only to have it prohibited and their purchase to go to waste. If you really want one, i guess you'd have to ball up, buy/import one personally, and risk having it prohibited with your own cash. Exactly what i'm doing with the M53 sarac. No dealers out there are selling them, so i'm doing something on my own time, with just over three grand invested. Hopefully it is approved, but hey, no guarantees :(... If it all goes down the drain, i guess there's 3k of wasted cash!

You want exotic goods, then you've got to play with the risk that accompanies it ;).

edit: Tiriaq has it pretty much covered. Dealers won't take the risk, not yet anyways. So if you really want it, you're on your own. See if questar will help you import one (assuming it has been already purchased, and shipped to their export office or however they do it)?

Wiselite does not export, and is not registered as an exporting manufacturer.
However, Wiselite's designs are US BATFE approved. And if anything, it is harder to get ATF approval than RCMP.
Assuming the design is acceptable, manufacture - or remanufacture (let's face it - the more original parts that can be used, the fewer parts have be newly made) - could be done here or offshore.
Now, after the problems that Marstar and Canam have had, anyone entering into a program like this would be accepting substantial risk.
Realistically, what would it cost in time and effort to get production underway? What would unit cost be? How many of the things could you actually sell, at what price? How long would it take to recover costs, and show a profit?

But, can someone buy the blue print of this one from Wiselite and built it in Canada and get the RCMP approuve it?

Just buying the blue print will be more cheaper and get a gunsmith do the job here and cassified it as non-restricted since the BATFE already accepted it as semi-auto only.

I would like to have a Bren...

They would still need an export permit to export the blueprints. Otherwise it would be a violation of ITAR.
