Got my Tavor! Woo hoo!! (range report post 14, rail and VFG post 36 :)

No slam fires or any problems with mine. Works great. The brass on mine even comes out undamaged.

Was the above just sarcasm from someone who doesn't own one and is rephrasing what they read about the first order?

Mine's from the batch that just came in a month or so ago, with the factory rail and Mepro with the new reticle and quick-release... and it definitely slam-fired twice, in the course of about 100 or maybe 150 rounds. Perhaps I should be contacting CanAm.

Those of you who haven't had this happen, have you been running .223 or 5.56? I'll have to run some 5.56 through it and see what happens; I only had .223 with me yesterday.

Edited to add: yes, the firing pin does have the spring.

I've put about 250 rounds through mine and I've never had a slam fire. They shouldn't ever happen really if everything is functioning right. Also, Tavors are freakin awesome.

Guys, straight up, do you think it is safe to buy one of these, or are they going to go all "Type 97" on this. This thing is almost too good to be true given the oppressive classification regime we have to deal with in this country.

I don't want to be in a situation where mofos are looking to take my stuff arbitrarily.

OP, HOT gun, no question man, grats. Where did you order from and what was the wait like?

The more people that have them the harder it is for them to take them away. If you're basing your purchasing decisions on what the RCMP might do you won't have much fun.

Buy one and enjoy it.

My personal opinion is that the RCMP are definitely looking at MANY different guns & "planning"...

I agree with what trottle_monkey said, the more people that have them, the better! So Zephram, JOIN US!!! We either stand together or hang seperately... Remember, each & every owner can contest the arbitrary reclassification in court. That's why the RCMP are going the way they are, they pick on the small numbers first, get precidence & keep pushing their agenda...

CobraGT, I'd contact CanAm and just tell him about the slamfires. With the spring, I was under the assumption that this could not happen...

Cheers
Jay
P.S. I've only put 5.56 through mine so far, but I will try some commercial fodder to see. Not sure when my next range day is, got a couple newbies requesting range time... Hopefully soon!

The T97 imported and sold by Lever Arms is a very different animal from TAVOR - for one thing, the T97 being rounded up right now have the fun switch and markings.......even though it doesn't do anything when it is rotated to the fun position. I do not see the TAVOR having a fun swith and that the fire control can even be rotated to the fun position.

Things happen with Lever Arm's T97 for reasons. So let's stop expanding this panic to other firearms.....this is detrimental to ourselves.

Mepro? I actually really like it; the only problem with it is that, if you're in a shadowed area shooting into a very bright area, the reticle's a bit on the dim side. Still, not a bad sight IMHO - I do like the fact that I don't have to worry about batteries :)

good call on placing the order; you won't regret it! (well, at least until the missus sees the credit card bill lol)

Zahal Rail

Got the rail from Zahal today; fits perfectly, looks decent, but after all that, I think I actually prefer the ergonomics of the rifle without it. I'll have to take it out and see how it handles with the foregrip.

Hey Nice rifle CobraGT,

Sigh ..hehe

Nice rifle .
Love the serial number too.

So I figure I've been here a week or so annoying everyone with my wants and needs , then I'll take that week out of the 2 years it seems to take everyone to get a Tavor so
let's see that's 365+365 - 7 (hell let's make it 10 days even) so I figure I've got 720 DoDo's left to wait ...

Hmmm just peachy...I think I'm gonna go to bed now and make it 719 days to go :)

Keeping an eye on the prize
