"Check out these cats in the Priddis area
Check out the wildlife living around town. These images were take about 20 minutes outside town on the 22x near the observatory.
It makes you not want to sleep outside under the stars anymore.
The person who took these pics is a local. His wife was out with their small dog and had a run in with a cougar. He decided to see if the cat lives in the area so he found some roadkill, dragged it out behind their house and setup a motion activated camera. Take a look at the pics and timestamps."

I got that email a few weeks ago as well. It would be interesting to know if the story and area are in fact true. They definitely could be, I just get a little suspicious once these emails go around.

Cool pics for sure!

cougars are very common around the springbank/cochrane area, and that's just south of there

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest that people are seeing cats in Priddis. I imagine they're all over hell's half-acre out there.

Yup they sure are. What I said above is just regarding the whole story itself not that I didn't believe (and know) there are cats there. Its funny how one week pictures were taken in Priddis next somewhere in Saskatchewan or Timbuktu.

No big deal, still cool pics

Cougar seen near Ottawa

/home/claude1/Pictures/NYF_Cougar.jpg

Here is a picture of a cougar seen in Gatineau, right next to Ottawa (just across the Ottawa River). They are very territorial, and can be quite ferocious, especially during mating season. They are usually bagged by younger hunters. They are seldom eaten once bagged.

How do you paste a picture into this fame???????

The cougar is common enough that some of the back country camp sites have been closed in the Cypress Hills. Cabin owners in the park don't even want to let their dogs or kids out anymore.
My great uncle has three cougar skins hanging over the hand rail in his house. He shot them when he was still on the ranch in the white mud valley south of Shaunavon. They have sure made a come back.

Stayed at a friends place 10 years ago in the Priddis sanctuary, they had "wild" Elk and deer roaming around outside their yard like it was Eden.
There are a ton of cats in the foot hills and even roaming right through town here along with the black bears. If only the folks here really knew I bet they would all stay in their basement and not let Fifi near the door.

I just got this email, finished uploading the pics and saw it was already posted. f:P:2:

Maybe I'll start another thread with them.......:nest:

Actually, those cats are eating an escapee outside the commune outside of Bountiful BC.

eden is south and west of there

I live in Calgary centre close to the river valley between the Zoo and Stampede grounds. Up until they did all the construction upgrading the river walkway and such we had a pack(s) of large coyotes living in there. At night they would come up into the residential areas and make off with people`s dogs and whatever other pets got to incautious. I saw them pretty much anytime I was out at night. So I could easily believe these cougers are possible.
