there comes a point where the increase in velocity doesn't justify the increase in powder consumption- that happens when you go from 338 win mag to 340 weatherby
also happens when you go from a 338F to a 338 Win Mag, if all you're doing is whackin deer, black bears, moose and elk inside 300 yards - and you enjoy packing a lighter more compact rifle that wont rip your head off
338 Win Mag burns about 75% more powder, to get 300 fps more velocity. Not much you cant do with a 210gr bullet @ 2650 fps. If grizz is on the menu, the logical choice would be a 338 Win Mag, or bigger
