also happens when you go from a 338F to a 338 Win Mag, if all you're doing is whackin deer, black bears, moose and elk inside 300 yards - and you enjoy packing a lighter more compact rifle that wont rip your head off ;)

338 Win Mag burns about 75% more powder, to get 300 fps more velocity. Not much you cant do with a 210gr bullet @ 2650 fps. If grizz is on the menu, the logical choice would be a 338 Win Mag, or bigger :) but for 95% of hunting (especially outside of BC & Alaska) the 338F would be a very good choice, just like a 308 or 30-06 would....however the 338f does it with a bit bigger hole without producing gobs of recoil. It's fun to shoot

I read an article about the 338Fed vs 358 by John Barsnes not too long ago. While very similar cartridges, he thought the .338 would come out on top for a few reasons, I'll have to re read it.

Hmmmmm. Another T3 basher, eh? I'll put mine up against your kachunkslide Remington any day of the week and you will be the one buying the case of beer that I bet you that my T3 will keep ALL 20 shots from a box of Fed 185 barnes inside of an inch at 100 yds. Got the stones for that one , pal??

I'm another fan of the .338 caliber but found the .338 Win Mag was more than I needed for the vast majority of my hunting in BC. While having one of my rifles rebarreled, I considered the .338 Federal but decided on the .338-06 instead (I roll my own so factory ammo availability/cost doesn't matter to me) although the .338 Fed would likely have been sufficient for my needs also.

Who cares? Deer and moose don't need 20 shots inside an inch. They only need one in the vitals. All the T3 owners can talk about is how accurate they are. Accuracy is important in a hunting rifle but it's just one factor. I'd rather hunt with a reliable rifle with metal parts that is accurate enough to kill a deer at 300 yards than a plastic POS that will put 20 into an inch at 100 yards.:p

LOL, I've owned 3 T3's, and if it wasn't for the Sako barrel, they'd be the laughing stock of the rifle industry...;)

I built this pump as a fast action, short range, deer/bear/moose thumper. I'm not sure what it'll do with 185 barnes, as I made it to throw 225gr and 250gr bullets, which won't work worth a s**t in a T3...If I wanted to shoot lighter bullets, I'd just use my .308 Sako 75 Finnlight...:)

H4895 was my standby, 47 grs with 210gr TSX or 215gr Sierra BTSP (2625-2640 fps) in the Sako 85 @ 2.9" OAL

my Ruger is a bit shorter, so I cant seat out. Loading 185gr TTSX I've run into compression issues with the bullet not being able to seat and stay there.....loaded some up with Benchmark too which doesnt have any compression issues with the 185gr TTSX. Yet to shoot any of them. Also will try the new IMR 8208xbr
