just wanted to know if that everytime i go out to the shooting range do i need to bring the paper work for each firearm???? what would be that problem if i didn't???? i doubt they could seize the firearm right then and there, could they? if someone has questions to ask and they have the proper authority couldn't they just run the serial numbers??? i just recently moved and my filing cabinet is a disaster and i cant find all my registration papers and i want to go to the range on monday!!!!!!go or not go till i find all the papers?

Hell ya. Get pulled over = holding cell until everything gets sorted out.

I don't know why we need papers with us. I thought police can look it up and validate it on the spot. :(

I keep all my papers with the firearms case. I think I will let the cop open the case and lift the foam up. The act of 'reaching' for a trigger locked handgun may still spook cops. lol

Make copies of the papers that came with your license, LTATT, reg. certs and put them in a folder and in your range bag.
You are supposed to produce certs on request, copies are legit.
Oh, yeah, don't open the case, don't pickup any guns and don't take safety devices off the guns.
They can charge you with breaking display regs, handling and pointing guns.... if they are so determined to do so.

I keep them with the wallet since the guns never leave without me and I never leave the house without my wallet and no one else in the house is allowed to touch them and I have the only key to them on my person at all times.

When you got your certificates in the mail, the small portion of info can be cut out to wallet size. Get them laminated and keep them with your guns. When you take a gun out of the house, just pop the appropriate card into your wallet next to your PAL.

I printed a copy of the firearms act from the RCMP website i keep this with copies of all my reg. certs. and my LATT in a binder that i carry with me everytime i go to shoot.

I was out shooting with my buddy the other day and police (Sureté du Québec) came (because of a noise complain) to check us out. We had 4 firearms and only one had an actual certificate, the 3 others were too new so the certificate were in the mail. They checked all firearms against the registery and with my pal nb they they could get all firearms serial nb (that's what a registery is for) and check if that was what we had then. All in all everything was good. I don't advocate not taking your papers with you, I keep them with the gun, but I don't think it's such a big deal, I mean if the firearms is registered all they have to do is call the central and before they can actually check it the guy tell them the serial. Then again it's a good habit to keep it with the gun and if you don't you might have to explain to the cop why, but then again they can check and within minutes see that you're the legitimate owner....

When I buy a gun, I keep the original receipt, the notification of transfer, and the registration that comes in the mail, I staple them all together, and keep that with me. This proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that the firearms belongs to me legally. I take this with me wherever my guns go so there is never any question! I believe as Dana White says in MMA, don't leave it in the hands of the judges!

That being said I have never been pulled over and asked to produce said papers, but I would hate to experience a situation where I was caught without them.

How did u get your RPAL without knowing the answer to your own question?? Its very clear what is required under the transportation regs as well as in the books which I have no doubt were ever read. If u choose NOT to have the regn for each gun with you thats your choice and be prepared to face the consequences, but there is nobody to blame other than you if you should ever be checked and not have the docs.

When I got my registration certificates I copied them. Stored one copy in the files and one copy in the gun case for each gun. The ATT and range membership copy is also in the gun case with the restricted. No worries. Put guns in case and then off to the range with no worries. Simple.

If ever something on some strange day was missing I would refer to my files.

This is exactly what I do as well. The odds of you being asked by a police officer to produce your papers is slim, but lets say you get into an accident on your way to/from the range and the cops run your vehicle and they find out that you own firearms and see your gun cases in your car and ask for your papers... It could happen. ;)

i actualy have a similar story. some time last month 2 of my freinds and i were shooting in salmon arm BC, some one complained and 2 rcmp showed up, because we were off the road a ways they turned there syrins(srry i suck) on to get our attention when we came out they had there sidarms trained on us (unarmed!!) they asked our info and i explained the situation. all our guns are full; registered and we all have our RPAL but i told him that i didnt have ne paper work or my plastic copy of my pal on me. he said that was fine and he d look me up. then they checked all the guns then comented on them and told us to have a nice day and clean up after ourselves! i also say you should keep them on you, but depending on the officer you probly could run into trouble, especialy with restricted firarms!

I don't carry my papers, there's no reason when a simple radio check will tell them what they need to know. Besides that we don't need to run around proving we aren't criminals, when do you draw the line, when you carry a reciept in your wallet for your wallet to prove you bought your wallet? Gimme a break.
