Black Bear Hunt 2010

Demo, that sounds like the last trip we had west of you boys for moose. I never thought a winch could get so much use but with a quarter of meat on each rack and the head on the back your average creek crossing became a survival situation. no room for goofing around. We had some serious hours in before getting back to camp some 30km away, frozen to the core.
And naturally I'd do it again.

I wonder if a heavy rod with a slide hammer type handle would work for those greasy hills. The handle could be use to both put the rod in the ground and take it back out.

Here's the anchor. Arguably the most important thing I take in the bush, next to TP.

Information: It's 34" long, and the teeth are 9".

Due to the angle, they just pull in and hold amazingly well. The only place they don't work so good, is places like that creek, that's all pit-run. Any place else, you can winch. With the handle I put on it, when you're done, you just pull it out. Comes out like nothing.

I don't leave on a hunting trip without it!

Everybody should have one...

I hunt bears because nothing else does, and not enough hunters go after them. A big mature boar like this bear, will kill moose calves.

No need to justify anything here. I was just curious if you guys bothered to haul the meat out with you. Here in ON, we have to eat it, by law...

Awesome hunt story and a nice bear! :D You got me confused though- you're posing with the wood stocked rifle and supposedly used it to shoot the bear, but after the kill have the dark camo stocked gun in the pics. Whats up?

Gunnutz need gun details! ;)
