Very nice rig you got there Rye,
Might as well have been tinfoil to that long barrel cannon.
If'n you hadda used cast iron the bits would still be a'flyin fersure.
The best steel I've found cheap is from the ballast base of those webbing pylons you'll see in theaters to funnel sheeple about. The nylon seatbelt webbing retraction device often fails and so they toss em. 375 / 270gr / 2850fps at 200 barely scars em. 06 ap will not imbed at close range. Real tough steel.
BTW; #####en vid on the paint job, I'll steal some ideas for a 6.5/55 B&C stock if ya aren't minding.

One time buddy got a hankering for a "reactive" target.
Went into camp and fetched my 14'' cast iron, hung it on edge at 100 and laced it with a 375/270 hot load. Well as Elmer is my witness only the handle loop was left. Took forever to season that pan properly, so later on I found his maglight---it, however, expired less dramatically.

I was also expecting a cast iron pan......You can keep using that one but you may have to backup 4 or 500 yards to get some movement...lol
The longer I'm a member of this site, the more I'm astounded at how lacking in knowledge many of the modern gun owners are! At 8 years of age my generation would have known that a 22 would have done that damage at 50 yds. I guess we just had a better chance of an inclusive upbringing in shooting concepts rather than the programs that are the exclusive right of progress to gun ownership. The alphabit soup of the firearm safety course gives little practical experience and almost instant access to gun ownership. just my 2 cent rant all the best art.h

Thanks man! I just grabbed this pan since it was about to go in the trash anyway, I figured I might as well put a few holes in it! lol

Your best bet for targets would be to go to a farm equip. dealership and ask to go through their scrap iron bins. You'd be surprised what you will find and someone might even help you cut the sizes you need. Old discers work great (concave facing you)

Yep - good use for this in my opinion. Not ideal for a reactive target but good to shoot and be rid of it.
