I finally got to shoot the ACR today. This is the base model nothing special just Magpul MOE sights.
The trigger was very nice and clean and the action seems very smooth.
I didn't get a chance to get it sighted in too well as we had pretty strong winds.
I don't like the selector, very small.

and of course there were suppressed rifles that needed a good banging as well :)

a note for the trolls, this was a shoot in the States.

Yes, the selector was the big issue mentioned at SHOT. Why they did not go with one similar to the G36, I do not know. For the After market, or A2, I guess.

What did you think of the weight?

Nice rifle :). I know this has probably been talked to death somewhere in some thread, but what is the latest news about getting these in Canada, and when? ...Non restricted perhaps??? ;)

It all depends on whether BM calls them combat rifles, or not, and if the DoS considers them "sporting". Maybe they can sweet talk to DoD like FN did ;)

I hope Bushmaster really sweet talks/ass kisses the DOD... in fact I may even send them some preparation H to use as lip balm.

Then again a SCAR would be just as nice, if not nicer.

Either way for now we all must wait and see I guess.

The weight is pretty nicely balanced. The selector has got to be replaced, but other than that the rifle seems pretty nice.

ViktorF - the concrete tables rock! a nice change after years of rotting wet wooden tables.

THe stupid thing is too heavy - trim down the barrel. They want to increase production efficiency by using the same M4 barrel setup - epic fail for a rifle with a 2200 price tag. They want the pie but they are not willing to walk pass the kitchen door to grab it.

The barrel QD mechanism has too many componets. They need to cut weight by removing some of the stuff, like the handle. This is not a SAW or GPMG, the barrel doesn't need to be super fast QD. The barrel should be made removable by a detachable handle.

Bushmaster or freedom group marketing strategy sucks - they should have just stamped "Remington" on it and give people the "REAL" version, instead of doing the GM thing by making gazillions of the same things with cheaper, cheap, and average versions. I bet they have figured out Bushmaster brand actually has negative goodwill in highend firearms market......they are only good for having the facility and distribution network setup!

Tell us what you really think Greentips :)

You know, I think the Masada is an awesome concept, with some solid band-aid engineering behind it. I think the fail comes in replacing a 5.56x45 with another 5.56x45. We all know 5.56 has gone through a myriad of changes and appears set to continue to do so. This is because (IMHO) the round is too light for what the infantry calls for today. 6.8SPC is in the same category, win for 6.8, fail for utilizing the same cartridge. While I understand the cost savings for using similar components (STANAG, 5.56 Brass, etc..) I think it's a near sighted decision to not adopt the best performance for the need.

You know what I'm saying? Take those $100k+ ballistic radars, the team of physicists, computer modelling, past knowledge and build/utilize the caliber of the future. Similar to what they are doing with the .416, but at an even grander (ie. government financed) scale.

I'll never understand government, trying to save a couple bucks, while putting lives on the line and spending a paltry $500 or 600 billion in the process.

I think the 6.5 Grendel is the best balance (without those physicists and ballistic radars to confirm). I think the case needs to be reworked, but the bullet itself is probably close to perfect. Give me the mathematically perfect case with the mathematically perfect bullet, fire those from a simple, lightweight rifle and there's win.

The rest of this; Masada/ACR, SCAR, M4orgery's are bandaids for what is really required.

Still, if/when I am able to buy the Masada/ACR, I will do so anyeay. It's not like I should ever have to carry it into combat. If I did? I'll be taking my 7.62's+ and scavenging what the dead leave behind.

I shot it some more today, less wind so I was able to get a better idea of the thing.
I am going to pass on it, just not enough goodness to justify.
My Daewoo is more accurate.

where did you get the kit for your Daewoo?

I have a K2...............well as a prohib I guess it does not matter up here.

Started as a DR-200 with thumbhole stock.
added StormWerkz stock adapter and freefloat handguard, Magpul AFG and magazine. Trying out the Trijicon TA26 but haven't decided for certain, thinking about adding a variable power scope.
