A poke to the Canadian businesses and dealers

The 10-30 pistol mag thread inspired me to ask this question. Are there any Canadian business interested to design an extended floor plate for the LAR-15 magazine that would make it look like a full length 30 rounds magazine? I know that I am not the only one interested by such a product, I'm sure many CGNers wants it as well. It would be easier to pull the mag out of the magwel and easier to fit in a vest.

Thank you.

i think is questar has a floorplate that attaches two together, giving them the same shape as a regular 30 rounder.

to fix you title, click the origional post edit, then 'go advanced' and save the change.

Yes, and i have 3 of these coupled LAR's (total of 6 LAR15 mags).
However, problem is shooting prone on an outside range... crap (grass,mud,etc..) will get onto your bottom rounds and clog the feedlips.
I was at Connaught range last weekend (Ottawa) for the service rifle & CQB matches... so i just used my regular 5/30 mags when shooting prone.
So i had a mix on both (5/30 and those coupled LAR+LAR) in my tac vest, and it can get confusing under high stress competition matches.
Conclusion: indeed, i think there is a need an market for such product, i.e. a LAR15 extended base.

Canadian firearm market being so small, most Canadian Business would rather come out with a product that is actually functional than just for looks, is my guess. :p

Yes, we looked at making a plastic adapter, but not really any market. better suited to the home workshop.

Marstar carried (?carries) a magazine cover that protects the feed lips. Here is an image dragged out of my browser history:

I never ordered them at the time, using 5/30 mags for prone shooting in Service Rifle comps. Five was the max allowed in mags for Service Rifle anyway. With the new course of fire, these magazine covers on my coupled LAR 10 round mags may be just the ticket. Usable for prone with a cover on the lower feed lips but lots of rounds available for the 10 or 20 round stages.

The reason Canadian manufacturers haven't gone after this is because it's a stupid idea.

Sugar coat it all you want but making a big chunk of something to extend a 10 round magazine is just flat our stupid.

why would that be?

they dont work in any good Mag pouches (fast mag,Tenspeed, etc etc)

the coupler is fine till you drop the mag(right onto the feed lips) and reloading with them is not any faster if they where the size of a 30 rounder it would be a good seller

Its too bad the lar15 mags weren't pmags. I had alot of feeding issues with the lar 15 mags if they were loaded to the 10 round capacity.

Zero issues with my 8 LAR mags loaded to 10 here. There were reports of an early batch with issues when loaded to 10. Don't remember the details (?spring tension) since mine work perfectly.

A possible contributing factor to my lack of problems is the carbine I stuff them into. Shown here with a 5/30 mag for monopodding from prone:

Like this? :D

I made up my own last year with old non working bodies.

On a side note my 10 round mags were of the first batch. They jam 90% of the time if I load to ten but are fine loaded to nine.

The wouldn't be useless. Easy to fit in a vest and to pull out of the magwel. The manufacturer could also design a small compartment for batteries and a concept similar to the 1022 banana mags, you can join 2 mags together. Sometimes you gotta think outside the box!
