Hello all, I am looking for feed back from people that actually own or personally know someone that use these scopes. (safe queens need not reply)

I am considering a 8-32 and want to make sure that these scopes have the durability, reliability and repeatability needed to handle large rifle recoil and such. The scope will be mounted on a 338 Lapua but will weigh in the teens and be braked. The rifle will be used exclusively for long range work and will have the turrets run up and down every time it is out. I handle my firearms like they are my children but bumps, trips, jars and the like can and will happen.

I am impressed with the ExacTrack System and think it should be a big plus when dialing scopes up and down all the time.

The only downside is that they are relatively untested as compared to brands such as Night Force and Schmidt & Bender.

I bought a 6-24 from Mystic a couple months ago and put it on my .338 Ultra with a brake and I so far I'm real happy with it. I only have about 60 rounds through it but it tracks great and the optics looks clear as can be (I own Leupold, Pentax and Bushnell) The Japanese have always been know for great optics and I haven't heard anything bad about these scopes.
 
my wife is using the 8-32x56 with fine cross hair reticle. I have a NF NSX on my rifle. I cant distinguish which is clearer, the Sightron or the NF. Her scope tracks every bit as good as my scope (we have shot out past 1000 regularly with it). The turret clicks arent as solid as my scope but that doesnt bother her one bit as she double checks her elevation and windage settings before each shot as part of her routine. The thing is amazing. would I buy another - ABSOLUTELY!!! Only gripe - I want an MOA reticle similar to my NPR-2 or an NPR-1 hahaha. seriously though, these are quality scopes. THANKS MYSTIC!
 
This is from a customer who is a top shooter. You will see more Sightrons used this year.

A report on the Sightron SIII scope...

When I mounted the scope I performed a box test. It performed a perfect square. However, when I dialed in 8moa for the box test it shot 9". The scope adjustments seemed to creep a little as I went higher on the scale. It returned to zero perfectly.

I shot it in Kingston, and am very happy with the tracking of the windage and vertical adjustments. I had an experience with the windage during the weekend. I had fired my first sighter at 600 yards, and it was where I wanted it (dead center). I needed to adjust the right bipod leg a bit, but it was very tight. So, I reached over with my left hand to loosen the nut. I'm left handed. I made the adjustment, and settled in for the second sighter. It came up as a 2!. I called the RO to challenge, but then declined when I noticed the windage dial was offset. I returned the dial to the original setting, and shot a pinwheel V. "Apparently my forearm moved the windage without me realizing it.

From that I learned...
the dials are sensitive.
the tracking is working very well.
 
I just got my new SIII 10-50x60 LRTD today, so far I'm impressed.The scope is real clear clicks are solids and audible.I was a little concerned, some of the reviews reported soft clicks, but that must of been fixed.From what I have read on other BR forums the biggest difference between Sightron and NightForce is the reticule choice, the turret clicks and the price.I have shot my smallest groups with a Sightron SIII 6-24 and I loved it, never any issues with it and it tracked perfectly.Buy one you wont regret it.

So far scopes I am personally using are tracking very nicely and the optics rival scopes costing a whole lot more.

Yes, reticle options are not as wide as say NF but the ones that are there suit most shooters and shooter applications. Hopefully, more options will come soon. Sightron is listening to shooters.

The 10-50 has 'soft' turrent adjustment but recent shipments show this may be changed to be stiffer. personally, I prefer a light turrent but to each his own.

Scope mechanicals have been well understood for decades and the Japanese build very good products.

However, things can happen with any brand and the support I have seen from Sightron has been superb. They suggest one of the fastest turnarounds in the industry.

At any rate, I support my customers that buy my product and they have been very happy with their purchases.

I now only have Sightrons on my rifles...

I can't comment much on durability on high recoiling rifles. My 8-32 is mounted on a .223. Image quality and tracking are both excellent. Adjustments clicks are tight and solid. There are times I wish elevation and windage were1/8 minute clicks, but that is pretty minor. I liked the scope enough to buy a second one off the EE to mount on a .308 I am setting up. IMHO, for the money, they are hard to beat.
 
peterdobson, being the importer of these, can you answer a question for me. I apologize if it sounds silly. Will Sightron still warranty a scope of theirs if it has been painted to match a rifle? Care will be taken as to not paint where turrets meet the tube and power adjustment ring area. Painting would be done by a gunsmith you deal with already.
 
I bought a 6-24 x 42 from Peter. It's the SII Big Sky series. I'm happy with it. I did a little review of it on Canadian Reload Radio a few weeks back. I believe that the Sightron stuff is an excellent value, and once more people figure that out you'll see a lot more of their scopes out there.
 
I'm tempted to upgrade from my 5.5-25x56FFP Falcon to a 8-32x56 Sightron.

Anyone had a chance to compare these two scopes, side by side??

Peter, Jerry any of you guys have one available for sale at the moment? If not what sort of timeline am I looking at here before I can get my hands on one?
 
I just recieved a sightron 36X BRD the older fixed 36x model target scope. I have fired a couple hundred rounds and am impressed. If conditions are decent, ie no mirage, I can see my 22 cal bullet holes at 300M. The elevation and windage are very precise. It's a decent scope for the money.
 
Goose, we have them and you may wish to try Alberta Tactical, Jo-Brook, Mystic Precision or the Powder Keg as authorized dealers. Your choice!
