Is this to replace the mag with a single shot adapter?

yes. it is the exact shape as the factory clip. just pull it out install the single shot conversion and drop a single round on it and close the bolt. by using the conversion you eliminate the damage you can get when you chamber a round and it rubs the bullet below it in the clip. this helps aid accuracy by ensuring there is no damage to the cartridge.

I purchased this adapter from Mr Williams (his photos) & works great with short or long-rifle ammo.

Just insert in place of the factory magazine....

It makes the MK-II a little more versatile.....

I thank you for the kind words. It is a way for me to be creative, making gun parts to help pay for other gun parts and/or ammunition. I do make these for the Savage Mark II and 93R17 line of rifles. If anyone has any questions, please free free to contact me.

You mean with the bottom of the stock?

1) Nope.
2) I can only guess, since I don't know the length; but I say nope.

Come to think of it, if it were flush, then the mag. release would stick out uncomfortably, with the potential to break off. Also, the magazine would be harder to pull out. I guess it makes sense to have 1 round extra length.

Cheers,
Sand

Here is how far the adapter protrudes from the bottom of the magazine well in relationship to the stock.
