New Russian made .338LM Sniper Rifle!

It seems strange that the bi-pod would be attached to the barrel. I thought a free floating barrel was a good thing.

bi-pod is not attached to the barrel. not clear from the picture but it's attached to the stock under the barrel

LoL biased much? :)

To stay on topic: I'd buy it over a Remington any day if they dropped the price.

Back on track (we all better now? lol); I'm not sure I would. I would have to inspect one personally before I could make that decision. I have no problems buying arms from former (or even current) enemies, I simply have more then a little experience with manufactured goods from communist and ex-communist countries. "Buyer beware" is a very good piece of advice in this case. I'm not saying that it will for sure be a POS, but it would warrant much more inspection then I would spend on, say, a Rem 700. - dan

Honestly, if I was going to spend $4k on a rig like that I'd just buy a Sako TRG 42 and be done with it. $4,399 + tax @ P+D, board sponsor.

Just my $0.02 though, YMMV.

Yes a brand new Sako TRG 42 is a fine rifle. Until one adds up the cost of all the requisite knick knacks and a quality scope. The concept of good value gets lost with most people.

Of course if a person could find a used TRG 42 with all the goodies at a reasonable price it would be a bit different. Brand new retail?? Fuggedaboutit.

Unless this Russian model comes with quality optics attached, it's not a very good deal either...

Personally, if I was going to go that route at all, I'd just have ATRS build one. But, if I had to go off-the-shelf I'd buy a TRG any day of the week (and twice if it was Sunday) before the Interammo product.

For that much money, I would go with SAKO TRG42, I wouldn't pay that much for a custom, If I really wanted Custom, I get a rem700MLR rifles, put AICS stock on , with different muzzle break, You got to be insane to pay 4K for a custom.
Sako do have Sand color and come in different length.

I saw that TRG 22 with 20" barrel in Buffalo Gun Centre on sale for $2300 few months ago. I was just standing there and salivating.

I have a Sako 338 LM. They aren't that expensive to feed. Buy a Savage or Rem version (or a TRG-S like I have) and you're in the bargain end of the pool. Dies aren't any more then other big magnum round, same with powder and bullets. Brass is spendy, but 338 LM brass lasts a LONG time. It really isn't that expensive a toy, not like a 50 BMG rifle. 2k (less optics) and you're set up to shoot. - dan

Pretty hard now aday to find one of those TRG-S in 338lapua, but there afew rem700MLR floating around, there is nothing wrong with the rem factory barrel, specially the new MLR, it got 1-10 twist and 26" length, that is plenty.
