Swiss Arms .308 semi???

Easy fix:

Go buy a Dillon 650 progressive press with case feeder, all the bulk .308 Win Brass you can find, scrounge, beg, borrow or steal; buy your 150gr FMJ bulk bullets in case lots and hit up Higginson's for a big-arse bulk surplus powder order and don't forget the primers!

Buy in big enough volume and you can shoot .308 very, very affordably. Upfront costs may seem a little daunting at first, but if you do any amount of shooting, the equipment and components will pay for themselves in a season or two of shooting.

What you load yourself will be far more accurate than any surplus ammo you're likely to find these days - even with bulk FMJ.

I've already decided that I will be getting a Hornady LNL but I can't do that till I move into a bigger condo once my current lease is up...

it absolutely sucks that it'll be a $5000 rifle but at least we'll have 1 black .308 semi in the country
The XCR-M (whenever that's done), and the SCAR-H (if we get 'em direct from Belgium) might find their way into our gun shops, too...

If it makes you feel any better our friends at the RCMP FRT lab might decide that its prohib. :p

I don't see how they can. I'm not up on my Swiss Arms, but will the .308 version not just be an upsize of the 5.56? In which case, unless it's "magically" able to be converted to full auto.... this would be a pretty tough one to deny.

It will also be a pretty tough one for me to deny.... to myself!

Unless it does hit 5G's... then it's gonna be a pretty easy thing to deny.

Narwhal were in the harbour today, Otokiak... Sounded like a war out there! I think I saw 4 get taken. I had no idea they could jump 4 or 5 feet out of the water. This Swiss Arms in .308 would be PERFECT for the hunters here.

First one of the modern 308 rifles to make it to Canada will sell like hotcakes.

I may have something come under the radar. We shall see. All I can say is sub-moa, .308 semi, non-restricted, black rifle. High quality western European manufacture. Nobody's heard of it. Everybody wants one. Pending RCMP approval.

that sounds awesome..... any idea on the price range?

SG 542 is no longer in production. The French was the last to manufacture the 54X in limited number as a stop gap measure before FAMAS was ready.

Not quite, FAMAE in Chile still makes them and there may be surplus Manurhin made rifles available if someone were to look hard enough.;)

Ok, if nobody has heard of it how can everybody want one?

The only semi-only made SG 54X's were in .222 Rem. and .243. They aren't that difficult to find.

The fit and finish is better on the Swiss Arms IMO. I think you'd way better off with one of those than SG 54X.
