COMP M4S until I can save enough for the Leupold CQBSS...
I shot a .435 group with the Leupy on this gun, but sadly I could not keep the Leupy :(
It has one of the first prototype "Super Tap" Enhanced Compensators on it, the production versions are a different more efficient design, and with our new coating.

I modified the lower with a captive take down retaining pin spring/detent setup -- bascially using a 4-40 tap, and cutting 1/8" off the spring, and placing a 4-40 1/8" long allen head screw that is blue loctited in place.
Example of the work on a SR-16

The the MIAD can be used with any of the backstrap options without any issues.
I replaced the SOPMOD stock with the Magpul ACS, as the ACS drops back on, and the friction lock on the ACS makes it so that you have a very firm stock for shooting prone, yet a collapsible stock for shooting 'run-n-gun'

I have been waiting on getting a hard case for it, I toyed at getting our Mk11 Mod0 pelican kit, but waiting on a longer full gun case for our carbines.

Surefire nicely sent me the parts for a X300 I was running on a shorty in Iraq with the Larue mount, I took the LT off, so my wife's G19 could have a X300, and it left a spare LT mount)
I debated the lock from the SF light, but the DBAL goes over the area of the lever and given I'm out of the gun toting business, I feel pretty confident Mark's bare lever will suffice.
HH6 gave me a hand this morning taking some backyard pics - but she forbid shooting in the backyard.
Lots of pics - what can I say I love the gun...

I'm surprised more companies don't just make the take down pin springs captive. You're already there drilling the hole, wouldn't add too much more to the cost to tap it.

It would be nice if KAC lowers came with this mod. Swapping out aftermarket pistol grips is a bit trickier, especially the MIAD.

Is that ambi-selector cut out for right handed shooters new?

It's a .308 Win barrel -- we are just determining where and how to mark that on the barrels, it may make it easier for commercial export to Canada...

We have a 'midlength' buffer tube, our Battle Rifle Action Spring, and HH (H2) buffer. During the EMC program we went away from the non standard Buffer to a longer tube, same spring and a M4A1/SR16 type H2 buffer.

We did this mod for certain MIAD related contracts, and in the 5.56mm guns since we removed the rear DQ stud pocket in the receiver and went back to the rear receiver QD end plate we are going back to standard type insertion of the spring.

On the 7.62mm guns, the M110 is adopted by the Army and now USMC (the SASS was picked as their REPR program gun system) so we don't do it standard. Its just added for MIAD related contracts.
Yes could do it during manufacture - however when your running a line of lowers, and only certain of those lowers have MIAD's at the final assembly its easier to do it the way I did.

Kevin:

For those of us that can not afford KAC, but want to build something that is roughtly similar.

Your a busy guy, so I did my own research, and I am including it here for those who would like to know as well.

-How long is that quad rail

KevinB said:
The rail is 12.5" - the rifle length one off the M110 SASS.
For some reason our web folks botched the length of the rail.

-That folding rear BUIS, is that spesifically calibrated for 308/7.62

The one on Kevin's carbine is the new Micro Flip Up Rear Sight 200-600 Meter (Length: 1.14" P/N: 25650) However its unclear as to if its calibrated for 308/7.62 , and exactly what ammo.

- Barrel length

This is indeed a 16" carbine

Here are a few other spec's taken frome the KAC website"

SR-25 EM CARBINE P/N: 25846

CALIBER .308 (7.62mm NATO)

TRIGGER 2 Stage Match (4.5 lbs)

VELOCITY: 2,517 fps (175 gr. M118LR) 767 meters p/ second

MAGAZINE TYPE / CAP. Standard 10/20 Rounds

WEIGHT (w/o MAGAZINE) 8 lbs 5oz / 3.6 Kgs

LENGTH w/STOCK RET. 33 7/8" / 84 cm

LENGTH w/STOCK EXT. 37" / 94 cm

BBL LENGTH 16" / 41 cm

The handstop is P/N 25460
It was originally 'backwards' on the PDW to ensure people did not shoot their fingers off, however it has gotten a big following to run the way I set it up.

I hope the above is helpful info
