Put some on my savage. She is now officially done and way over budget. I have about 1500$ into this if you include optics. While not alot for a tactical rifle with glass its is quite a bit when your talking about a hopped up savage/stevens. Now to get some range time!!

I think you need to make me a rifle.:p How did you do that for $1400? Do that with a Rem and it would have been $2000 before a scope or the bottom metal...lol. I need to buy another Stevens.;):D

Nicely done, I think you did quite well for cost. Mine is do back and I was 1500 deep with the stock, barrel, and donor action.

Cartridge?

I was off by a 100$ or so..here is the breakdown:

New Stevens Actions 200$
Rifle Basix Trigger 0$ (bought a used rifle to get the trigger, sold the rifle with trigger swap for same $$)
EGW 20 MOA base 50$
Used Sig Z 30 MM rings EE 50$
Takeoff HS Precision LRPV Repeater Stock 300$
Chicom Harris Copy 25$
Homemade Tactical Bolt Knob 0$
Used Bushnell 4200 6x24-50 Tactical EE 550$
New Shilen Match BBL 175$ Chambered in .260 rem with 1-9 twist
CDI metal and Mag 250$

1500$ total including glass.

I believe this gun will shoot right along side guns costing thousands of $$$ more. Its still the old silk purse from a sows ear conundrum though. From a functionality standpoint it works and shoots well. The added length from the bolt knob, coupled with the addition of a bolt lift kit and some polishing made a huge difference without having to touch ramp angles. As many of the "experts" will tell you, although it has a good quality stock, barrel and optics in the end it still is only a stevens 200. Using a blank and doing the chambering myself as well as parts scrounging for several months keeps the cost reasonable but it is easy to get out of hand. I would like to add a full on McMillan stock at some point but again it is adding more cost to a rifle that some would consider to be not much more valuable then the 300$ stevens it started out as. The rifle is priceless as far as personal satisfaction goes though.

Did you get the CDI here in Canada or order it directly from manufacturer? I want the same thing for my rifle!
