I usually site in to allow for a bad flinch. Apparently I had it under control that day. So I missed.
I've been utterly thrilled with my A7 in .300wsm
I'm shooting ragged holes at 100yds all day with Federal blue box. Learned my lesson shooting it prone with the stock recoil pad on it pretty quickly though. Spent the 50$ on a limbsaver and it made a night/day difference. Shooting 2-3 boxes prone now doesn't phase me and isn't leaving any marks either.
Still considering putting a brake on it. I will be hunting with it though so it's kind of a tossup.

Those results with inexpensive Federal Ammo must be pretty pleasing. I have one as well, same cartridge. I haven't tried any factory ammo yet, and am shooting my hand loads only so far. I'm not at the one ragged hole stage yet. More like 5 shots into 1.25". Its been too danged hot too shoot for the last month. Couple of shots and you have to wait forever for the barrel to cool down. Did the limbsaver as well. Really makes the rifle confortable to shoot in a t shirt.
My sako a7 .270 wsm stainless shoots great. Even with factory ammo.
Here is ammo test day, 106 yrds. Winchester supremes went 1.3 and 1.8"....didn't like them. Federal 140 ab's and 130 bt's went .7 and .6 respectively, fusions had 4 going .4" but the fifth opened up and likely me, then a pretty slow handload a buddy threw together with 150 bergers bottom right doing nice too. I found enough accuracy in factory and have stuck with the 140 ab's.
So these are all 5 shot groups shot back to back allowing gun to cool between groups. Top left is a winchester supreme, next down is federal 130 bt's, next down is federal 140 ab's, middle is the other winchester supreme (i think one was 140 abs and other 150 bt's maybe?) and the bergers were bottom right with fusions in the middle of the bottom row.
The federal (NOT winchester) 140 ab's is the one i went with. .7" ctc
The 130 bt's would be great deer/speed goat/coyote load, this was .6 ctc
Collecting drop data day...one sighter up high right, one click down and one click left and 3 shots 2 7/16" so less than 1/2 moa at 500 yrds with the 140 ab's i chose. All these and above pictures were taken last summer during initial set up of this rig.
Then i got out this summer to make sure things are ready for sheep season and put 4 into a little over 4" at the 500m gongs at rosebud the other day (545-550 yrds by my rangefinder)....wind is what stretched things out horizontally a bit there, wasn't the best day for tight groupings but thats not what i was trying to do...just making sure the kenton speed dial knob was still where it needed to be.

you already have a solid platform for a 5-600 yrd build imo....do it with the Bavarian! see how it likes 180 ab's, a leupy with target knob or zeiss rapid z 600 would work good on that rig....can't say i'm fan of the irons but they are there, in that case i might sight them in and use quick detach rings (emergency back up)...i think your maybe taking a step down with that bavarian?
and if you like wood and traditional feel etc. then not sure the sako a7 will please you, have you handled them all yet? anyhow, its fun setting up and trying new stuff so who am i to try and talk you out of it lol...i love doing the same thing...my a7 won't be sold to fund another project though

This is a ten shot group at 100 meters. Pretty hard to argue with an out of the box rifle that shoots that well....
Its had about 20 rounds down the barrel. Next trip I will stretch it out to 200 and 300 meters and see how it does.

wow, so minus .284 and you get .545" ctc 10 shot.....nice, i knew i'd see guys and a7's who'd outshoot me....that is incredible for how light these guns are and in barrel too....handload or factory?
140 Accubond handloads using IMR 4350. I was rather happy to see the results as well
A buddy of mine has a Sako A7 in 270 WSM and it shoots super tight as well.
I am also shooting a Tikka Varmint HB in 6.5x55 right now and getting incredible results at 200 and 300 meters as well....
Like I said I don't think a guy can go wrong with a Sako product but I like the M70's allot as well.

No lead sled but it was a bench group with front and rear bags. If I had left it as a three shot group it would have been .5 inches nice but nothing extraordinary.
It just look all super close in the picture but it shot three .5 inch groups plus an extra into the same area so it looks good. I was looking for consistency when I fired the 10 I was happy to see it
