Marlin 795

Have been considering one of those guns for poking around for small game. They appear to be a nice short light gun which would be a dream to carry on long excursions. And the price for a new one seems great. Whats your impression of your gun?

Really light...easy to get on target. Got a BSA scope for it with see through rings for the sights. I can't see the rear sight, but I can use the grooves for them. Overall I like it for small game, although I still need to hit the HC for a full range report. Thats the part I want to know about from others.

its a good gun ,its light , accurate, and it works.

What he said. The only problem I have with mine is that the scope keeps sliding backward on the rails afer 100 rounds or so no matter how tight I crank it down. Scope weighs as much as the rifle!

My scope isn't that heavy, although there is a picatiny rail in the us that you can buy for it...i was thinking of getting one eventually

I actually just WON one today at a 3-gun match. I pick it up tomorrow and will be going to the range to play with her some more. I fired 20 rounds through her today and she functions nicely. 1st mag slowfire and the 2nd was a fast as i could pull the trigger and no jams.

The guide rod sring is a little stiff to put back together without any shots through it, I reccomend a few more through it before you take it apart. I wonder if they will still give you the $20 rebate...lol.

Does anyone know which of the supporting dealers sell the Merlin 795? I took a quick look around and didn't see it.

I'm very interested in this little rifle for a basic starter .22 LR. Good out of the box with options to mount optics later on.

Also, how are the stock open sights? I've seen some aftermarket sights for the weapon, but am interested in how the originals hold up for basic 50 yards and under.

Thanks! (and can't wait to see the pics of the Krylon'ed 795)

I got mine at a local shop, although they can be found at Cabelas and other sport department stores. I will get the pics up as soon as my camera starts working again (needs batteries).

The iron sights on the blued version are non-folding and all black. The stainless verson comes with the folding buckhorn and a red front fin and hood.

well straight out of the box i got a 1 hole group at 50 yards with the irons. i was quite amazed. i'll post a pic if i can ever find my camera. it's a beautiful lil rifle not a single jam.

Hm... so I'm not the only one with that problem!

Nice rifle... especially with the $25 off!
