T/C Venture??

I have one in 7mm mag. Haven't been out to shoot it yet but my impressions are as follows.

1) Stock is cheapish but not as bad as Savage plastic. Plastic trigger guard bugs me but no big deal.
2) Cycles shells great without a hitch
3) trigger is slightly adjustable and is nice IMO. As good as any accutrigger I've tried
4) Machining on barrel very good. Well done crown. Barrel weight is between a sporter weight and bull barrel
5) Detachable magazine is plastic but works and I like this option
6) Bolt is a simple design but is smooth and built like a tank.

Literature guarantees MOA so for a sub $600 rifle that shoots as promises I'd rate it better than than a similarly priced savage and about the same as the SPS rem series although I think the stock is stiffer on the TC.

If it shoots as promised its a buy.

The 1 in 10 twist in the .204 Ruger chambering is interesting. To my knowledge, it is the first time a big manufacturer has moved beyond 1 in 12. The 1 in 10 will shoot 40+ gr bullets much better.

I have a TC Venture in .30-06. I'm not a big fan of composite stocks, but I have to admit, this one doesn't look too bad...doesn't look as cheap as most. I have had it to the range a couple times... have shot 30 or 40 rounds... I would say the gun has no trouble shooting as promised... I'm not what I'd call a great shot, and I have put quite a few 4 or 5 shot groups under one inch, and I easily keep all the shots inside the 1 1/2" bullseye we use. My only regret in buying this rifle is I wish I would have waited for it to be available in 308... and camo... I like the looks of that one better.

I love t/c as a company but like most of the gun makers there putting out these budget guns that just don't sit right with me. I love a good deal but when most of the gun is cheap plastic it does not seem fair to us as the byer. Don't get me wrong I'm a utility gun kinda guy. Most of mine are polimer stock.

The best quality budget gun I've seen is the one Weatherby has for the same price. A friend of mine shoots one and it is sweet.

One word: "Recession"

Shot one in 204 a few weeks ago for a buddy. 32 gr Hornady factory shells. 3 shots at 100yds, and very calm. ALL groups under 1/2" and some under 1/4" c to c. I could hardly believe how well it shot!

I just passed thru Yorkton Sk and stopped at the Home Hardware, OMG what a selection!!! And furthermore what awesome pricing on the Venture...$524.99!!!!
By far the least expensive. MUST GET ONE!!

Just picked one up(243 win) there yesterday for $541 + taxes.

Shot it today with lower priced federal ammo today and no problem
shooting 1 inch or better groups.
