Most durable 9mm?

HK USP or P30 series.b No one puts there guns thru the hardship that HK does. The hostile environment finish coats all the metal parts...inside and out.
 
I had a Glock 17. They are very durable and super reliable....ate everything it was fed no problem. However, I prefer a heavier frame pistol so I moved on. If you get one, buy adjustable sights. Good choice, tonnes of accesories and easy to strip and clean as well. my .02
 
The glock my be reliable but I still like a steel gun not alloy you can weld and fix steel if you realy needed , once plastic is broken good luck fixing that (I have seen 4 Broken glock frames at work )

stainless steel slide & frame SIG 226 Elite or SIG X5... heavy, durable, accurate, reliable, !!!
of course you have to pay the high price for a perfect handgun, SIG works like a Swiss watch !
 
I heard the Beretta, as much as I love it, does not fair well dirty. I have also heard accounts of the CZ being more bullet proof than the Sig. I suppose the Glock is good if you can get past the trigger an DA only.

Having taken a couple Ruger Single Actions down to their naughty bits (only piece I've never taken out is the firing pin and spring), I'm pretty sure, that it would NOT be the gun I'd take if excessive sand and mud were a possibility. I could not imagine cleaning, in the field, sand out of the action. You want to know how well you can swear, I highly recommend full detail stripping of Ruger Firearms (Single Action loading gate springs have caused about 15% of my current grey hairs.

My vote would go to SIG p226 ( double action capable ). Friends of mine up there told me how perfect this gun was under any conditions. Then right behind I vote for the Glock 17 indeed.

Ok. The HK series of pistols are the worst handguns to use in harsh, dirty, muddy conditions. They are terrible. The testing they put them under must be made up, and the 20,000 +rds of I have put thru them is meaningless. While others guns (Glocks, sigs, CZ's, etc..etc.) all jammed, broke, gimped up while my HK USP's and even the P30-L worked like clockwork. This was under normal shooting conditions of course, which does not say much for the others mentioned above, as they were used under the same conditions. No friends told me this, I witnessed it. Sig and glocks are reliable as well, but there are other variables that cause problems. There are 4 small contact points for the slide to ride in a USP, hardly too narrow to push a little sand out of the way. I have no future aspiration of going into combat, but if I did I would have an HK, as it is one of the most reliable and well made guns on the planet.

whatever you do make sure if your pistol has to meet all those requirements you will need a back up as it will be sure to fail at some point.

Glocks are known to take a lot of that type of abnormal abuse due to loser tolerances than some of the better quality pistols AK-47 of pistols is not a bad comparison. There are much better pistols out there but if you really need it to chewed on by a cow and run through the ruminant then Glock is what should rely on. I darn near gave mine away as I hated the pistol but they do shoot and do take crap.

A Glock was not tested with CBSA as it did not have a pistol that met the basic criteria. The M&P failed the drop test.

HKs are my favorite.
 
Glock; no contest. Beretta models need a special magazine to properly function in the sand (Beretta markets same). SIG and HK models do not have the proven duty track record of the Glock. S&W semi automatic pistols have a questionable history (remember the Sigma and the Model 59 series?). The California Highway Patrol recently returned its entire shipment of semi-auto M&P pistols to S&W. Glock makes a habit of dropping its pistols (along with its competitors) off the roof of its multi story headquarters in Smyrna, GA to the pavement below (along with other 'torture tests') to see which 'takes a licking and keeps on ticking'. Others won't do the same (or if they do they won't publish the results). Best looking? No. Most accurate? No. Most reliable 'bang for the buck'? Yes.
