your opening statement needs to be written by someone who is over 16. seriously, it reads like it was written by yet another WoW kid

Perhaps you should be more concerned with learning proper firearms safety and not posting pictures of yourself fondling triggers off range.

The idea is to show people that we're mature and responsible enough to own firearms. Fighting for the right to use them to shoot 'homie' might seem a bit like a vigilante.

Whats wrong with dry firing everyone i know does it as long as long as you PROVE the gun safe and your not pointing it at people your fine i prolly would't want to post pics on Facebook of myself doing it but thats just me. I think dry firing is fine whats your beef with it?

I don't mean to be harsh, and you may mean well with your Facebook page, but I have to say that your description paragraph is very weak. It does not make gun owners look responsible or mature. It does not make a coherent case for gun ownership. I recommend you take it down, and redo it. Right now you are harming, not helping, gun ownership in Canada.

A sensible paragraph would not sound like street trash talk. Do you think a non-gun owner reading that paragraph will have confidence that giving the right to own or carry a gun is a good idea?

A sensible paragraph would mention the fact that 2 million Canadians have a license to own guns. It would mention that shooting sports and hunting are a multi billion dollar industry that employs many thousands of Canadians.

A sensible paragraph would mention that far more Canadians die in swimming pools or snowmobile accidents than law abiding citizens die from guns.

A sensible paragraph would mention that shooting sports are enjoyed by many thousands of Canadians, and have been part of the Olympics from the very first modern olympiad, before most of the sports we see today became Olympic sports, and Canada can stand proudly with a number of medals in these sports.

A sensible paragraph would mention that taking away a right to self defense is a denial of natural human rights.

A sensible paragraph would close with something like: "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns".

There are many other things a introduction paragraph promoting gun ownership in Canada could say. But not what you have said.

Read some CSSA literature. Read some 2nd amendment literature. And put up a useful page.

Peace.

Dude,

Really sorry but I could never hook my profile up to that page. Firearms are serious. Fun, yes, but deadly serious.

Don't take this the wrong way but this almost feels like it was created by an anti-user as a propaganda page. Don't laugh - I used to practice the PR Dark Arts and would have created something like this with the express purpose of positioning gun owners in a less-than-favourable light.

It is indeed commendable that you're taking it upon yourself to share, communicate and bring people together. Just take a few moments to think about how you want naval-gazers living in PleasantVille to perceive you and the validity of your rights to possess firearms.

Wishing you nothing but upside, :)

Seriously though the picture of the super fat mobidly obese guy holding the AR15 in the picture section of your facebook group made me laugh. As for me joining your facebook group, it will never happen. I support the cause but facebook isnt the way to get it done.

F.Y.I. Facebook is for wankers.:slap:

When the average facebook user sees your facebook page, you want them to be assured that we are not a bunch of gun-toting maniacs, rather we are a mature, responsible and safety conscious group of individuals who don't want our hobby to get banned. Just food for thought. ;)

Probably because it's 50/50 if this guy is for real, or a moby.

Anyway, I did my bit.

If this guy is serious, let him take down his page for a few days and ask for a better paragraph. I am sure that someone will post a better paragraph in the discussion here that he can use.

People I guess feel it is O.K. to comment about this guy because he is large. They wouldn't dare make the same type of disparaging remarks if he was a different ethnicity, or ###ual orientation or gender, etc. for fear of being banned.

I for one like to see people like him using firearms. Shooting is one of the few sports that doesn't discriminate against people because of size, colour, orientation, gender or handicaps. Regular people like him, which most people are closer to than the hollywood types and models that are force fed to us through the media, gives encouragement to the average joe that they can be successful at and enjoy the shooting sports regardless of their "differences".

I can see FAR MORE important things to comment in a negative light about on that Face book page than a guy shouldering a rifle.

Agreed that this isnt the best presentation. However the idea behind it isnt all that bad. Are there any groups on facebook for resposible Canadian gun owners? Or would anyone care to create a better written one? Regardless of how you feel about facebook it has proven to be a decent tool when it comes to raising awareness on an issue. Prime example the HST petition here in BC. Their facebook group helped raise awareness to many who otherwise may not have payed any attention to it.
