Shorten PAL Approval Times

i called the cfsc number right on day 28 and asked how everything was going and if my picture was acceptable. she said everything was in order and its now with the CFO. Should i call the CFO? will that speed anyting up, or will i kinda feel like an idiot when they ask me if its been 45 days yet.

i think they are catching on or something, she knew what i wanted right away lol. then told me to wait 45 days.. its been about 40 days today..

this has been the longest month ever.. i really want it for labor day weekend, goin camping and that would just make the weekend

My wife's application was received on July 6; she called yesterday and was told the RCMP bit was done and everything was now with the Alberta CFO... by my calculations, she's now over 50 days...

FWIW, when I applied for mine, no one contacted me or my references to check on me; so far, no one has for her either...

I just got my RPAL/PAL in Ontario for the first time. Following the advice on this page it took exactly 28 days for approval from the time they received it. It then took another 8 days for it to arrive in the mail at my house.

I mailed in my app as soon as I completed the course, not waiting for the form from the CFO to come back. I later faxed in this form the day I received it and it was processed immediately.

Thanks for letting us know how that worked.
I knew the process worked but many posters seem wary of trying it, probably because the Notario CFO tells course instructors that students are required to wait for stamped results prior to sending application.
From thread no. 468818: "The CFO informed all of us at the last Instructor conference that the Ontario CFO office has told the CFC to reject all Ontario applications submitted without the proof copy attachment."
Whether or not the CFO made this request, the CFC does not follow that practice.

My course instructor told us to wait for the forms to come back from CFO.

The only issue doing this is it does create a bit more paperwork(for Miramichi), since you get a letter in the mail half way through the waiting period stating you are missing the form(can just ignore, they give a huge 3 month window for you to send it in).

This process worked the same way for my brother's PAL (faxed in the form once it arrives from CFO).

The process as Calalta describes definitely works...and would recommend everyone follow it regardless of what the course instructors tell you.

I was upgrading my PAL to RPAL. They received my app on Aug 3....and I physically received my RPAL card on Aug 23.

I called in and spoke to someone about every 5 days just to see how things were (politely)...and definitely believe this will make your app go thru faster.

Hi, new here, and just sent my PAL app awaya couple weeks ago. I checked the website and it has been received and is being processed. I have a question. What shows up on caller I.D. when they call me and my references for interviews? I don't answer blocked names/numbers and would like to know what shows up so that I don't potentially miss the call. Does anyone know what number shows up? Will it show up as R.C.M.P.? From what I have read, some people and their references aren't even called. Any help would be great. Thanks... Great site!

Call display is either CFC, RFC.

THe PAL takes about 21 working days.

Current wait time for a restricted transfer (from a store) with the ONT. CFO is about 2 weeks.

Day 90 and counting. If you had to answer yes to one of the supposed 'no' questions (depression/job loss), apparently a CFO has to review it. Current backlog in BC/Yukon is about 1000 apps, as of a couple weeks ago.

Guess what just arrived in the mail?!?!?

w:h:
:D :ar15: :D

I'm kinda at a loss for words.

I never thought this day would come.

And now it has... And now I'm "one of you".

I'd like to thank the Academy... f:P:2:

Oops. Wrong speech.

Well, I'm about to get my "legal gun ownership" on - making a call to Marstar!

you guys getting ure rpal are lucky the cfo has my application but i have no reason to call because they dont do interviews for PAL i guesse i could call in and just say im calling to do interview.. and to hurry the hell up!!!!!!!!!

way past 28 days here almost at 45 here.. im calling on day 45 nomatter what

Sent my application to add restricted on August 8th. Got my new licence yesterday, Sept 1st!!!!! I sent a real nice thank you email that they replied to today and were very happy for my positive comments. I gave 2 of my grown kids as guarantors and we all received the phone interview on the same day as they happened to be at my home. Not sure but maybe it was fast because I had my non restricted for a few years. I'm in BC.

I was planning on following the steps here to move things along, but the RCMP were faster than me. Application received on August 20th, showed up online August 30th, my references and I were all called for interview on August 31st. They said it would be headed to CFO when interviews were done (and after 28days). Hopefully have the RPAL by the end of September. Process smooth as silk so far, and a really nice interviewer. Pleasantly surprised!

Right on Sleepingmoose. My app was recieved on the 20th as well, hopefully mine is coming along as quickly as yours!
