I will be moving from Alberta to Colorado in January. I just came off the phone with the ATF and there is no issue with me taking my firearms with me. ONLY, they told me that I can not take my Russian SKS with me! WTF?!

Does anyone know if there is a way to get it imported? This gun has emotional value to me so i dont care if it costs me more than to replace it there.

Thanks a lot!

I believe that you are SOL. On the upside, you can easily purchase an AK, so long as it's got the requisite # of US made parts. We all know that they are plentiful down there. Unless it was your fathers gun when he was VC, who cares, it's an SKS!

If it was your first gun or something like that it does suck big time.

If you don't move permanently, transfer it to someone you trust.

And buy an AK, of course.

there is a ban on russian and chinese SKS into the US, that will explain why they are more expensive there than here.

best bet for you to talk to companies that specialize in importing/exporting firearms , like daves sport shop and questar , maybe there is a way.

Ban on importing Russian or Chinese SKS into the USA, that is the reason they are so cheap here! You could buy one in the US, that was imported before the Ban. More expensive, but the legal way to solve your problem once you have your US green card.
