A few problems there SC, one its a 30-06, secondly a 220gr Thats crazy talk, why not just jump up a little to the 300WM if you're gonna go that nutz. Its funny no one seems to like the BLR option, inspite of some good chamberings and a takedown version of them.

Actually, I like everything about that choice, except the mosins safety...which makes it a non-runner, though I did once used to use one for deer.

BLR's are not all as reliable as some other lever technologies. The wheel inside has been an issue over the course of it's existance. My .308 only works well with the Winchester brand of ammo and even then the cases are buldged on the rear sides. We had it checked out by Browning when it was purchased over 25 years ago and was told all is within specs. Yet it jams regularly with east european ammo and with military ammo in 7.62. Now I can understand it not doing so well with the military stuff, but why not everything else? I would not trust this rifle in a dangerous situation.

Well it seems most bear threads get started in Toronto so I'm starting to assume they must be overrun with large angry grizzly bears. That's where I would guess.
