So I went to Disneyland for guns a few weeks ago. It was an Aimpoint invitation only shooting course with reps from the major players: FN, HK, Sig Saur, Colt Canada, B&T and Glock. Four days, perfect weather. There was CQB ranges, pistol ranges, long range and sniper ranges and even grenade launchers. I got to shoot EVERYTHING!

The CQB ranges were the best, with fixed and robotic targets. I got to shoot the C8 against the SCAR and the 416 all at the same time, and in full auto.

I never fired a suppressed pistol. It's VERY snappy.

Timberwolf vs B&T

The timberwolf cleaned up against a dozen other sniper systems.

I didn't get pics of the FN 7.62 minimi - but damn!

Now I have to go back to five round mags. I hope you don't all hate me now.

..........so many people on this site I'm forced to hate..;) Guess my invite got lost in the mail...? lol

Thanks for sharing.

Any comments on the SCAR optic set up? reference the M4 and magnifier?

L and H both shoot well with the optic set up. Knocking down a tgt at 500 every time with both. The rail is one peice so you set up any where you wanted.

Height is good for everyone with the adjustable cheek peice.

Awesome pics, Two questions:

1: Did you like the HK416 or HK G36 better...?

2: how far were the longest shoots taken at the long range.

Cheers

I never liked the G36. There were two there. Don't like the tip in mags, the height of the rail or the plastic. I've seen the rilfes broken in half before.

Having said that it is one of the best rifles in the world, and ran flawlessly for the week.

The 416 is much harder to #### than the C8. Very hard return spring. It also had lots of aluminum shavings inside after 2000 rounds or so. The trigger is nicer than the C8. The front rail wasn't suitable for scope mounting either - Aimpiont found it not repeatable. Euro guys reported lots of issues too.

I also noticed that the chamber is FULLY supported. Nowwhere for a boom to go.

I was shooting the timberwolf at 800 and 1000. Also shot a blaser at 800. There was a tgt at 1200, but I couldn't see it from the timberwolf point. IIRC the drop at 1000 was 89 clicks.

Shot the 416 and the 7.62 minimi at 600.

The only other .338s there were B&T and a Blaser with a funky straight pull bolt. Timberwolf was the star, hands down. The B&T actually hurt to shoot. Took me three rounds to get on guessing the wind - not my strong point. In my defence it was pretty gusty.

Some dudes told me that the Timberwolf beat the AI in the UK, but they still got AIs. Go figure.

I spent one day between the sniper and pistol and the rest at CQB. Waaaaaay more fun.
