Just bought one, wondering if anyone here owns one and what kind of accuracy they are getting. Also is anyone elses bolt extremely tight in the chamber, as in almost needing a rubber mallet to open and close the action?
 
never shot one... they look pretty robust and are suppose to be pretty good.

As for the bolt sticking... I had a similar problem with my HS-50.. turns out to be super soft brass issues.

I changed the brass and never had the problem again.
 
I didnt spend 5k on the rifle, three k actually scoped, but thanks for your wonderful insight. I was actually looking to speak to someone who owns or has shot the rifle not someone who just likes to shoot there mouth off. I have never shot a 50 before so if I wanted to know what kind of groups to expect. Google yeilds little to no info for this gun. Cant even find manufacturers info.
 
Suputin's observation is apt. Questions about potential accuracy are best asked before you spend your money. Still, the bolt situation is worrisome. I'd call Rick at ATRS and ask him. He knows 50s.
 
I did contact ATRS and they said they may be able to help me with the tight bolt, that is if the bolt and chamber arent hard chrome from what i understand. Im at a loss as to why asking other owners of the same gun as me what kind of groups they get is somehow wrong, as in if my groups are larger then theirs its easier to narrow down to my shooting/lousy ammo.

Because every gun will the different. You could take two rifles off the production line, side by side and they would likely shoot the same ammo differently.

Now, when we get to the 50 BMG, there are very few choices available. So if your rifle doesn't like a particular brand of ammo you don't have a hell of a lot of choice cause there is little else available. Consider reloading and you are gonna run into the same problem, compounded by the fact that there are a ton of variables involved so even if someone gave you their pet load it would be nearly impossible to exactly duplicate.

You bought an expensive ad exotic rifle with no idea of how well it works or what to expect from it. Not very smart. But hey, its your money, you want to throw it away on ill conceived purchases, thats your business.
 
Interesting gun, the guy's are coming down a bit hard on you. Nope, never heard how the rifle shoots, but I don't think asking how it groups, if there's anyone else out there with one, is a bad idea. I would have asked around before buying mind you, as suggested. But something caught your fancy, and you bought it, good for you enjoy it; happens to me too I just ended up with a WW Greener shotgun I had no use for before I saw it. No idea how well it'll work for my purposes, and you better bet I've got questions riding on a shotgun specific forum about it too...

Hope you get the info you're after, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It's a strange rifle, in a little fired caliber due to expense, so any info you do get will be the same, limited. I'd sell and get a nice .338 and start ringing 1200 yard gongs, but we all have different tastes. Please post some pics if you get a chance, would like to see more of this curiosity. It's my understanding these were available as a 'you assemble kit' in addition to ready to fire...? Perhaps there were novice assembly issues, and that's the issue with the bolt.
 
This is not the most expensive gun I own, not by a long shot. I have wanted a 50 BMG for some time, so three grand for one scoped, mind you not an expensive scope, seems reasonable. I wasnt looking at spending a minimum of 5k for a steyhr or more for a custom rifle that would spend most of its life in the safe. I wasnt looking for match grade accuracy, as my shooting skills arent up to that par. Im not sure how I threw my money away. I dont do alot of posting, mostly buying and selling and a lot of reading. I do get a kick out of the ridicule and banter that goes on in here. Seems to be alot of people that who dont really have anything helpfull to add, they just want to throw their two cents into the mix. Alot of these posts where guys are looking for some information or user support from fellow gun owners turn into threads that go "im smarter than you", "chevy is better that ford", "you wasted your money/got ripped off" "your a dumb newbie" "use the search button" "your a fudd", "I have 10,000 posts and you have twenty so your opinion is meaningless". How about some help guys, from someone that owns the gun? I know there are guys in here that own these. I saw two at the Edmonton gun show last week alone. Once I get mine back from Alberta Tactical Rifle and I get some time from work I'll try and do up a range report for anyone else interested in the rifle.
 
OK, that's where things get iffy for me, was with you up until that. I'm with you on targets, and each of us choosing what we like, but there's absolutely no good reason to use a .50 on deer. You'll destroy a huge amount of meat, make way more noise than necessary, and just all around be working hard at being one of the "I do this because I want to." forever adolescent types. Neat gun, but choose a hunting rifle, for hunting. Your .50's not for it. :)

In short, hunting's my favourite sport. Guy's hauling .50's out and setting up a blind ruins things a good deal and gives us a black eye.
 
Never mind the critics.... its your money invested, not theirs.
Take the darn thing out and shoot it...have fun, thats what I did with my 50.
Regardless of make, there is nothing to compare with " pulling the Dragon's tail. " :D
