RED DOT on a 858

I put an Ultradot on with high scope rings.

The beautiful part of it is I could see the iron sights through the rings when I took the rubber eye piece off - it made zeroing a whole lot easier.

i use a TRS-25 on a NEA mount. used to use a fastfire, but after 3000rds it #### the bed. Basically the light sensor gets fouled up with powder residue which permantly sets the sight to night time settings. As well the switch gets twitchy.

Or i would also go with an Aimpoint Micro.

I'm also thinking about adding a red dot to my cz. Leaning towards the sparc optic as it looks a little superior to the trs-25 and not nearly as costly as the aimpoint options. However I've noticed that different models range from 2 MOA to 4 MOA. Whats the best MOA size for this gun?

Looks are deceiving. Talk to Stevo, he has run both on his CZ's and he shoots his CZ's alot.

I can't see the stock, but it looks like you have a cheek riser there. Do you find that you have to use it to get a good cheek weld, as the optic is sitting on the mount plus the cantilever mount?

Vortex SPARC on NEA cantilever mount for me.

Yes, that's exactly why. I have the .5" riser and it lines me up perfectly with my setup.

If you're just running the surplus ammo, then the 4MOA should be just about right. If you are loading your own higher quality stuff, using v-max's for example, you'll likely be happier with more precision. It's largely a trade off of speed vs precision. There's no point in putting a scope more accurate than the rifle/ammo combination, and it's pretty rare, the rifle that can hold 2 MOA with the surplus. Remembering the standard it was designed for, was minute of capitalist pig, at 300y.

Can I buy the NEA top railed hand guard without the bottom half? If yes, where? Or do they have to be mounted together? I'd hate shelling out all that money to mount only half of it on my rifle. I really don't like, and have absolute no use, for the bottom Alu hand guard.

Also, is the Vortex SPARC the same as the red dot once sold by Questar with the SIG brand name on it?

Thanks.

Yes you can buy the top half only. Contact Charles Martel to find out who stocks them.

AFAIK the sparc is not the same as the sig sight you are talking about.

Is there in pictures of anyone with a Red Dot on a CZ 858 with the original wood on the gun still?

Can you put a Red Dot on a factory original CZ 858 ?

Personally for me, when I look at a CZ 858 that has aftermarket stocks and handguards with rails, they really look like a SKS that has been Bubbafied. I really like the look of the CZ because it has a similar AK look to it, but once you start replacing everything on them, they really lose that look, and look to much like a pimped out SKS.

Although a CZ 858 is very useful with all of the rails, and aftermarket stocks on it, I personally feel that it loses all of its Character once the wood has been removed. Just my humble opinion.
