I didn't "mention" the BD mag as you stated, that was Badger.
We never sold a single unit during that time... we would not put our customers in jeopardy by selling something to them that was in question or known to be an issue. We have sat on our inventory and held it aside, waiting for the RCMP to clarify the status of the firearms and the magazine in question.
We also would have no way to know if the RCMP had not told other dealers... we still dont' know for sure if we are the only ones who were notified and if so then it's a surprise to us. The RCMP certainly updated the FRT listings. When I made that post we had every reason to believe that other dealers and certainly the importer, had been notified as well.
The fact that we made the public aware of the decision (once it was finalized) saved a lot of unsuspecting consumers from taking delivery of a magazine that has been declared a Prohibited Device. I seriously doubt that anyone who was about to buy one of these or who had ordered but not yet taken delivery is angry that we made the information public.
Badger seems more unhappy that he was caught holding the "hot potatoe" than anything else... instead of being upset he can't sell them to unsuspecting customers he should be sending them back to the distributor for replacement or credit.
I expect that the S&W Distributor will have 10 round magazines available pretty quickly and I would guess that he's already spoken to S&W about a different 25 round "rifle" magazine that would not be be prohibited. My guess is that any dealer who bought the guns from the distributor will be supported and that the magazines in question will get swapped out... so the only real issue is the dealer will need to hold the inventory for a short while until that can happen.
If you want to believe that this was all some sort of "master plan" on my part to screw other dealers, then so be it. I guess I should be flattered that you believe I have that kind of power and that kind of smarts, to manipulate the RCMP and the CFO's and the market place. Too bad I didn't have the smarts not to be caught holding my own inventory of S&W 15-22P's and S&W 25 round magazines
I just wonder... if we had not made the information public now... if we had allowed hundreds of unsuspecting customers buy these guns and magazines (when we knew that they were going to have a problem to deal with later)... then in a few weeks or months when the word finally got out and the CFC started sending out notices to all the registered owners... what would you be saying about Questar then? Would you then be accusing us of keeping a secret and letting all those unsuspecting consumers get 'screwed' when we knew all along it was coming? It strikes me that you would blame us no matter what we had done... and that makes me wonder why and what your real motiviation is.
