What do you think of hunting with a m14/m305. I was thinking of getting an xcr but I don't see them in stock anywhere and the m14 is a better price for sure.

rifles don't cost a lot and they work. Cover them with a light coating of vasoline and they are good to go in the rain.

I would definatly hunt with a m-14/305. I actually would have this year if Marstars shipment was not held up.

BUT I would choose the RA XCR-M in .308 when it comes out over the M-14 for hunting, IF it performs like the reports claim it does. Or the Keltec RFB since its so short.

Norc 305 in the bush or on the open is a nice rifle in the hands during a hunt. I once had a game warden inspect mine during a stop one day and it was entirely evident from the pleased look on his face that he approved of my choice. He wasn't just inspecting that rifle, but rather fondling it.

I chose "other"

While I love my M14 as a bush gun, for hunting, my preference is my Browning BAR. It is in 30-06, is lighter and has a wee bit more oomph.

Browning first, m14 a very, very close second.

Cheers!

I'm customizing mine to 260Rem for coyotes and deer. It'll have an M14 Dr stock and a 4.5x14 Leopold Mil-dot scope. It'll be a little more portable than my Sendero for bush areas and less overkill on coyotes than the 300WM.

Remington R25 or AR10 best semi auto .308. Scope it, light, reliable. AND WAY WAY Cheaper then building a m14! Properly done m14 cost over $2000, screw that, 1150USD for ar10 or rem

I use my Norc M-305 hunting. Its one real downside is the weight. It's not something I'd want to carry climbing up after mountain goats, though!! :D

Can't imagine why you wouldn't. An M305 doesn't have to weigh 11 pounds. Find the ammo it shoots best(think 165's) and off you go.
"...pleased look on his face..." I've had cops do that while moving my handguns too. Most have never seen a real Colt 1911. Mind you, had one(who should have known more) ask me if it was a semi-auto.

I'm quite surprised at the amount of people who complain about the weight of an M14 while hunting ... interesting! I hunt with mine all the time ... in my qamutiq(sledbox), on my ATV ... and ON FOOT ... so I know what she's like after several miles of walking with her on my back ... just don't bother me I guess.
