M-14b

I just got a polly m305 instead. Its almost Christmas. When I posted in this thread back in July, saying Christmas we might be lucky to see these rifles in stock... John freaked on me saying tops 2 months, because its on the boat. Here we are 7 weeks away from Christmas. I was right. I should get a discount coupon for providing a accurate time frame. :D

I wouldn't take it personally . ;)
He dose that to anyone that questions his previous statements .
LOL

cancelled

i canceled - on pre-order since May is a joke - i hereby resolve to never open this thread or the Marstar website again.

i have bought numerous guns and accessories from a dozen other companies many many online - no one has been so piss poor and rude as these guys.

done with them!

I am beginning to see Johns point about stating ETA or doing pre-orders. I am sure he enjoys having vast quantities of his companies capital tied up for months or years at a time while watching his profit go down the tube due to gov bs. Anybody ever hear of the "opportunity cost" concept?

I've read (admittedly just now) about opportunity cost, and find this whole situation interesting from a business owner's perspective.

Tying up capital is part of this business, yes? Unfortunately for John his opportunity cost might be the loss of future business. Worst part is, it's most likely due to circumstances out of his control.:(

At this point, I can't see any benefit of the pre-order when dealing with uncertain transactions like importing firearms from China. 'X' numbers of months ago, the "announce pre-order to secure future sales" concept was a sound one. I for one was on the verge of buying this gun somewhere else. Marstar was not an option only because they didn't have them. Now I have been (happily) waiting for these to arrive and have chosen not to take my business elsewhere.

The only gripe any of us have (or should have) with this situation is we were expecting things to go one way and it has gone another way. Consumers are impatient and demanding by nature, a result of our "at your finger tips" consumer culture. If we don't like the prices or the way we get treated at store 'A' we go to store 'B'.

But what you don't usually see are consumers who went to store 'A', found out it was a bummer deal, then stand outside the store complaining and repeating over and over how pissed they are. The only reason it's happening here is, this is an internet forum where we all come daily and it doesn't take much effort to voice your displeasure.

When spring 2011 rolls around, I see myself buying this firearm elsewhere. Only because it will be a "need" not a "want" for the 2011 season. I won't cancel my pre-order because 2x of these beauties would be fine, and I'd like to remain a part of this ordeal.

Until then, it will be interesting to see how it pans out, and how John wraps this deal up.

I'd be surprised if we see another pre-order from Marstar.:nest:

when someone deals with importing most of their products, I think someone at marstar should be more then capable of picking a proper time frame. 6 months turned into 10 months. Besides, everything on Marstar web site is sold out. No point in even checking it out. All the tac vest are sold out for months. So where did the capital go? I been waiting for marstar to upgrade their stocks for months with no results. I do not think the m14 rifles have left China as John has told us in July. 6 weeks on the boat is long gone, unless the boat has sunk.

The issue is not with us, Marstar had a good idea with the preorder. I am sure they where aware of the risks if they took to long. I think they got burned on their own wishful thinking.

Fact is, John is rude. Only reason people return to buy from marstar is cheap prices, not customer service. John scared me off long time ago with his arrogant comments, and the only reason why I check this section of the forum is in hope of a decent deal to compensate for lack of customer service.

Agreed. I was just making observations about the entire interaction and the differences between in person commerce and online shopping.

I'll keep my preorder and I'll keep buying from john in the future.
I knew these rifles could be weeks/months late, what good would calling marstar and asking 'when will my rifle be here?' none, asking daily/weekly doesn't make the boat go any faster. They'll get here when they get here, if I was in a hurry, I'd go elsewhere, no big deal. It's not like cancelling a preorder is stabbing marstar in the back, no money has been exchange, no promises or handshakes done - one of the big benefits of marstar's preorder. It cost me nothing to call and throw my name on the preorder list, why complain? Just cancel and buy from someone else, or just stick it out. It's pretty simple and I guess some people need to make drama out of nothing.

Ja, I can understand the desire to create some "buzz" around a new shipment and pump-up the desire; but sheesh, John is really taking it in the 'nads on this one.
I really hope that it works-out well for him, I think he's a big asset to the CGN community and to the Canadian firearms community in general.

Marstar experience

I have ordered from Marstar. The order email was responded to quickly. The order was filled in 2 weeks and shipped. It was not an M14B order, but I wanted to weigh in on the customer service I experienced. I will order again.

Splatter, you're right!

In the one of the Korean M1 Garand forums, Johnone makes the comment
... members here...represent a very small number in the overall picture.

So, let's not take ourselves too seriously or be too rough on John. He is after all a businessman, so it's not realistic to expect him to expend a lot of effort on
...a very small number....
