$129.95 Norinco 780 Homeland Security 12ga 14" Barrel

Dan,

Just by looking a Lou's pictures I can not tell those parts from the real deal. But all it would take is a few thousands of an inch in dimensioning difference to render the parts incompatible with the real deal... Curious why these guns were made to different specs in the first place when the Grizzly (at least mine) is fully interchangeable with my Wingmaster (Bolt, locking block, barrel and trigger group).

It would be interesting to get a close up picture of the trigger group removed from the gun. Maybe the only way the differences could be detected is with a micrometer and caliper....

Great price, whats the total length? Hard to tell from the pictures and its not listed on the site.

Thanks !

Geez I really have to do everything here. :D

34 and a half inches.

Hmm. I figured that If I make a wood stock, and make it usable as a hip-held, pistol-grip equipped home defense tool, I can manage to have a total length of slightly more than the required 26 inches to keep it unrestricted. He he he... Winter project? :stirthepot2:

so just to be clear, will any aftermarket 870 parts fit on this ?

ie; foregrip, heatshield, side saddle, pistol grip, and so on. im talking the cool little bits you put on something like this :)

It appears 870 stocks aren't interchangable (which probably precludes anything else that might fit in the same location, like pistol grips) but another thread mentions sidesaddles being compatable. Hard to say if heat shields, bayonet mounts, fore ends, ghost ring sights, etc. are compatible or not. Brother CKid makes the very valid point that these things don't have to be very much out of spec to be incompatable.

I think there'll be a herd of us down at our LGS's a week after delivery playing "what fits my cheap shotgun". Kinda precludes mail ordering of bits and pieces, but thanks to the Mighty CGN Hive Mind, we can share our experiences and perhaps come to some useful conclusions.

By the way, twenty years ago none of us outside of Ryan's area code would have known these friggin' things even existed, much less be working on a coast-to-coast cooperative effort to turn chicken poop into chicken salad. I think that's awesome beyond words.

CGN really is a wonderful thing. I love you guys...

yeah I'm debating on getting one. I know someone else thats getting one, I think once I get my hands on his I'll decide. I'm looking to flip my .22 for a short shotty anyways.

Got my two today, ones going to a good buddy for christmas, the other I will pull apart and clean. Cycled one and its not bad at all, see how it well it works cleaned up.

I'll post some pics as well, the grip and stock are definitly different then an 870 but it might be possible to bodge a grip to it.

I bought two of them today. I stripped them, sprayed them with Brake Cleaner to get that gooey oil out and then slathered them with Break Free. They are steell not nearly as slick as a Remington. But they will probably improve with usage, the way my Norc pistols have.

These would have been well worth the original $250 price, so are huge bargains at $130.

Acording to the book, the mag will hold 4 rounds of 2 3/4" ammo or 3 3" shells.

The stock has a good feel. The recoil pad looks functional (and needed).

I have not yet tried loading the mag and cycling ammo through it. I will update this post after trying that.

The trigger pins are exactly 2" apart - just like a Remington, so a saddle should fit.

Can't believe we're buying these things willingly. We're killing our very own sport by going to the Chinese and snubbing our American and Euro manufacturers. It's just plain sad. One day, we'll be making hardly anything in the west, because people were too shortsighted to look ahead to the future.

I have two Rems, two Winchesters, a Parker and a Marlin.

Now I got one I can lend to buddy taking a canoe trip in the Artic. He wanted a bear gun. If it gets lost on the bottom of a river i won't cry too hard.

Not exactly the kind (quality) of Shotgun I would want to trust for predator protection, be it for myself, or someone I cared about.

Go back and read Post #1, the part where it says these have historically developed problems.....

We just have so many good North American options, that cost hardly anything. Just don't get it. I've seen people bemoan the lack of Canadian manufacturers in one post, then in the next talk about their Norinco. Dlask barrels, even Remington barrels for short shotguns from this dealer himself, aren't break the bank expensive, and they're both quality. Say no to Chinese.

So don't buy one then, why do people always have to walk into a thread like this and try pissing all over the place? People buying this gun are buying it solely because it's cheap. The possible issues have been fully disclosed. Crying about any of that is ridiculous.
