2011 National and Ontario Prov format?

Ont Provincial and National Format

Count on the Provincial match to be shot in one day while the Nationals will take two days to complete.

Well last time i shot Nationals in Kingston it was a 4 day format not a three and it wasn't announced till late. many Albertans already had their airline tickets bought.

Probably you will shoot - 1/2 day AM ,1/2 day PM that is there are Open, Standard, Production and Revolver depending on the breakdown (last Nats was 64 Open, 59 Prod, 59 standard and 5 Revolver) but as Ontario is central expect more Standard and Production shooters so I would estimate 200 to 240 shooters.

If 16 stages over 8 pits 8 stages ( 4 pits) per 1/2 day with squads of 15 and shooting very early every day it could be done in 2 days........... but that is too long a day for dedicated RO's and CROs ( patch you own squad's targets)

So probably it will be over 3 days with squads of 10 shooting 4 pits per day ( 8 stages)
in 1/2 day format with a 1 1 1 formula of 5 short 6 med and 5 long courses.

My guess is Expect to start at 8:00 am to 12:00 and 1:00 pm to 5:00pm ( 1 hr per pit) and shoot 2 days of Thursday, Friday or Saturday. with banquet to be Saturday PM and no waste an extra day for shootoffs.

If entries are all in and paid there is no reason why the squad schedule could not be announced at least a couple of weeks before the match so arrivals and day trips coul;d be planned.

Ro's I imagine will shoot Wed all day.

Expect to pay in the 200 to 275 for the pleasure of not working the match except to patch you own targets.

Now I would expect nothing short of extraordinary from IPSC Ontario, with all work slots filled in by volunteers, and shooting schedule be most convenient for the shooters.
From my side I would promise a case of wine for award ceremony (if I can find a dedicated driver this time).

I expect that all shooters help out in some way and that should be mandatory, personally I will RO when ever is needed and as long as needed

Shooters will have to patch their own targets and set steel etc. Shooters pay to shoot the match not to work at it.

A real championship match NEVER has competitors RO each other, too many uneven decisions and lack of continuity.

I expect RO's working for at least 1 whole day will get to shoot for free and get meals + special room rates and other compensation, CRO's, RM and MD and some match staff should get room and board as they will have to be there for all 4 - 5 days and work their ass off.

But these are just my opinion of how a proper Nationals should be run.

Well said, and yes I agree, that how the things are done in Europe.

If you want to be sarcastic go ahead, so far you are just ill inform, and if your knowledge about running a match is same as about prices of gas in Europe, I am glad you are not SD.

I think the max that the RO's can shoot in a day is 16 stages. I think giving them a day and a half or two days would be a good idea. I know after Lethbridge that was one of the lessons we learn.
