Reading the rules and I found for production class the trigger pull has to measure 5lbs or more but reading the Sig website it lists all the guns I looked at as having a 4.4lbs trigger pull. Sig 220, 226, 229 are all on the allowed list so what gives.... what am I missing

Is that for the DA pull or the SA pull?

The minimum 5 lb trigger pull in IPSC PD is for the initial DA pull. There is no minimum for subsequent SA pulls.

Having the decocker would be nice. The Sigs aren't a bad gun, bore sits a bit high for my liking, but with the short pull trigger and some tweaks it could be a decent gun.

Who would want to use SIG for IPSC Production anyways? Unless you are Max Michel. :)

there is a really good shooter using a Sig that beat Max by I think 10% this year at the US Nationals. ;);)

Don't forget, US have different rules, different guns are approved and more work is allowed on the gun internals. So, those altogether are different SIGs. Though US shooters are incredible, but even Max is not using a real SIG as his open gun. :-/

Just looking at what makes one gun different from another, aluminum frames, steel frams, composite...composite lowers... definately not one guns as good as another.

One thing I'm finding is parts/accessories can be easier to find for one than another. Glocks seem to be available everywhere, parts are everywhere (maybe even value village)...Holsters, clips...availability of this stuff really does differ from one gun to another. As far as the sig goes I was just looking because I found what looks like a reasonable deal on a p2022 so I wanted to see what was being said about it.

I say if you are planning shooting IPSC, get yourself a sig with a beaver tail. Or better don't try to be original and just get a CZ. You'll have a better trigger pull and more accessible parts.

s**t talking about trigger pull try my Beretta lol its about 200lbs ask Mr Clean he checks it all the time @ Level 3 matches:cheers::cheers::bump:

Euxx, yes the cz has awesome guns, my girlfriend is planning on getting a SP-01 Shadow, I was considering the Phantom (just so her and I don't have the same gun). I'm also considering among other things, M&P, Glock 17, Ruger SR-9 and the Sig 226 or 2022... lots of choices but limited knowledge and funds, I want to make the right choice so still asking questions.

Seeing you post lately looking for gun. Don' t count out a 9mm 1911 from STI. Your going to hear race gun minor this and that from some posters which is all going to be true. How much of any of that really counts in the overall picture?

I don't recommend you buy a gun based on rules and regulations around whatever shooting sport is out there. Buy what you want and shoot it all.

Wanna shoot within same class/division as your gf in whatever league? Have a budget? I can only recommend CZ 75B variant in 9pm, M&P 9, Glock 17. That's the short list from me - try before you buy if you can. Everything else is either IMO too expensive or just crap. I consider SIG to fall in both categories. Lots of tac guys love Sig - huge fanbase - but I'm not a big fan.

Why not a stainless CZ 75b in 9? Same mags and internal parts as your gf. Looks sweet. No problem in any league. Zillions of go-fast items available if that floats your boat.

Don"t discount the same gun..

There can be something said for having the same gun as a partner, especially if you are both shooting a lot. If you are at a match and one gun malfunctions there is a ready made back up available, and it allows for you and your girlfried to be very comfortable with how it shoots. My wife and I both started in IPSC with M&P9's and found it very helpful.

But as others have indicated, most important is getting a gun you like and feel comfortable with.

Have fun with whatever you choose!!

Why do you need a different gun? With the same gun you could share and borrow magazines, parts and even holsters. Yet you can still make your own gun look unique, say by installing color aluminum grips.

There is also STI GP6. Though I still believe still frame is a better gun.

Going to the local indoor range probably today to compare Glock 17, M&P9, P-07 Duty and what ever else they have. I'm finding it hard to commit to one over another with out shooting it, my favorite to shoot so far was the Baby Eagle 9mm but as the guy at the range said, try finding a holster for it or accessories. The glocks and cz seem to win when you consider accessories and availability. S&W has that lifetime Service Policy and I hear good things about M&P...oh well Pal is first week of December so I still have lots of time to make my choice(s)...

Thanks for all the advice folks, it's excellent to get opinions and to have my line of thinking challenged.

Will the fact that my gf shoots left eye dominant make a difference if I had to shoot her Shadow when I'm right eye dominant? The shadow is always a choice as is the Phantom (I like the feel of the Phantom) but the shooting center doesn't have one to try.

I totally agree,..I shoot minor with my stock2 once in awhile,....it may be a disadvantage for scoring,..but you should be shooting lots of A's anyway. I barely notice DA to SA transition.

Eye dominance between you and the GF will make no difference in how you setup the Shadow.
