Shortened a singleshot Rem 812 :) Almost done, with pics

I used an 18 tooth per inch hacksaw to chop, cause that's what I found first and a palm random orbit sander with a 100-120 or so that got smoother with time.

I haven't done a 300-500 grit sand and refinish yet, I'm going to shoot it a hundred times or so and see if I want to adjust how it fits my hand. It's hard to see the lesser shaping but it's to fit my hand.
 
Hey guys, no need to foster divisions within the shooting community.
Buddy wanted a fun gun, totally impractical? Yes, but he recognizes that. A firearms doesn't NEED to be practical to be fun, and theres no need to attack him just because he felt like having a short shotgun.

Now, lets get a range report!
 
Well, I wouldn't have done it if it was my only shotgun.

I have this one,
a H&R bolt action 12 gauge with a 30" barrel,
an Ithaca model 37 with an 18",
a Winchester M120 with a 30" full and
a 870 Express super magnum with a rem choke 26" barrel is arriving soon.

So I won't be out trying to hunt turkey or geese, but I'll definitely try it on grouse and rabbit.

AND it's fun. I shot it last night when I was out getting firewood. Put a box of wall mart Winchester bulk # 4's . Recoil is manageable, although you want to pay attention. The lack of the tang action opener is beautiful. Fire comes out a bit. I was wearing ear muffs, but I imagine it's lots louder than my long barrel ones. One hand is like my friends 4.2" Redhawk with a hot load. I'd guess shot spread is about 4" at 10'. I'll actually measure it and stuff when we go out tomorrow, I was just playing and making noise. Tomorrow I might get pictures, video's etc.
 
That's ok, let them. I did it partly because up until a couple years ago I just thought all sawed off shotguns were illegal. Now I have more knowledge, I know better and I have one :) I like my guns, they are all over the spectrum of uses for firearms.

And is anyone going to miss a cheap imported from brazil single shot? Doubt it.

claybuster i must say i,m disapointed in you, you have some great things to say but on the issue of short shotguns, you come off liek a #### head, what gives??
