Im looking into get a lever action .22 and i've been looking at the Norinco JW21 rifles. anyone have own one of these rifles or have any experience with them?

Im thinking that because they're not semi and only .22 cal there shouldn't be much to worry about?

Thanks

(ps did a search, found nothing)

I guess if you could find one for $200 or less it might be a cheap option but I'd hold out for a nice used Winchester,Marlin,Browning or Henry.
It will cost a bit more but you won't remember the extra couple hundred bucks down the road....

After owning the JW20 semi browning semi clone, I say spend some more money and buy a decent gun..The Browning Bl22 is a good gun and can be had for under 400 in the gun exchange..It will last a lifetime while the Norinco is waiting for parts.

Norinco 22

I own the .22 bolt Mauser look-alike. While it is a basically sound gun, the sights are off (as in off base), the trigger feels extremely mushy and there are crude machining mark left overs all over the place.
Bottom line: if I had the funds I would hold out for a better rifle.

Anything Norinco of this generation is not the same as the last one. Norinco has come full circle.

i have had one for the last 2 years,it is accurate, and has not let me down.
the only flaws i have found is

1 the butt plate is slightly off center, and i mean slightly as in not worth the hassle of correcting.

2 i am always worried about the tube mag follower rod falling out . (but i would worry about this with any tube fed .22)
a piece of black tape warped around the follower after loading works nicely.

Killer Kane how about posting a couple of pics so we can see how much better than the old ones they look

Well Norinco has been making the JW-21 for a long time. I am wondering if anyone has bought one from the shipment Moreguns has brought in and would like to share pics/review.

Thanks.

I have a 22 magnum BRNO knockoff-apart from the thick varnish finish on the cheap wood stock ,its not bad,is accurate enough and the trigger is OK[bought it years ago new from SIR for $109.00,didn't have much use for a 22 magnum, so didn't want to spend too much]I'm wondering if the new Norincos with synthetic stocks have addressed the finish issue. To me-you don't buy a Norinco for collector value-you buy it for function and reliability as long as you get that, its what you bought it for
