:D:D:D:cheers:

Not when I have a coffee cup over the keyboard please.

Come on TDC you have never met Segal, sure he acts in movies but they are just movies man, as in make believe. The guy is an avid handgunner and I have it on very good authority he regularly brings his own guns up here and gets in range time when he is working on movies in Vancouver. I suggest you have no idea how well versed he is in the art of the handgun nor on is mental competance. I am willing to bet though, his bank account is larger then yours and mine so he has to be doing something right. It is called maximizing your talents. He did, and good on him for doing so.

So now I have to meet a guy to observe his poor technique? Wow. If anyone has seen the episode of his cop show where he qualifies, watch him closely. His finger is crammed through the trigger, he blades his body, he uses the classic double fisted grip, he closes one eye and his group is sh*t for the speed he shoots. Oh wait, he starts with the pistol out of the holster. Now that may be acceptable practice for the qualification but its hardly realistic.

His bank account has little to do with his gun handling skills and more to do with his acting career and martial arts career. I guess having money and being a shooter automatically translates into being an "expert" or "PRO" now too.

So now Coopers rules are some universal law? Sorry they aren't. They are certainly well thought out but they aren't accepted as law anywhere I know of. You can huff and puff them all you like, but that's the simple truth of the matter.
Funny how over 10 years of top level competition and professional teaching and I've never accidentally done a press check. Hmm. Some years I fired over 150,000 rounds through various guns, still no press checks except when I wanted to do them.
Weird

Answer my question. What other rules must be broken for someone to get shot? What other rules are absolutely necessary for the safety of others when handling firearms?

It's a TV show get over it. If it works for him, let it be. If it bothers you change channels.

Nope just a guy being very sucessful in a line of work he chose to do. If it gets him through life, living a lifestyle he wants good on him. Works for all of us, LEOS, Military folks, Doctors, Bankers and Indian Chiefs.

Don't be around other people. Then you don't have to worry about shooting them. There's a rule someone could use.
You try and make these "absolute" statements for things that aren't absolute, and all it does is further degrade your argument.
Get back to us in 15 or 20 years when you've actually had the chance to prove your ideas are valid. As it stands now you've really got no credibility. You're arguing against things that are SOP across pretty much the entire globe in the LE field. This isn't something that happened by accident, well I guess you could say it happened because of accidents. Accidents where guns didn't go bang when they should have. As a result a procedure was developed, tested and looked at by some of the best minds on the planet when it comes to gun handling. Now you, who has a small amount of experience suddenly can declare your way is the right way? Sorry dude, not happening.

But, but but but TDC reads lots.....

Slavex some of the things you speak of were developed due to the gun going bang when it shouldn't have, too.

At the same time things were developed yes, but the press check was specifically developed to ensure a round was in the gun.

Yup! Of course now TDC has posted we all know how silly an idea that was.:D As an aside I have yet to do a press check while doing a reload while running through a CoF. I haven't seen anyone else do it either. That said I haven't done it in a gun fight either but then again I haven't been in a gun fight so who knows what my finely tuned body might do if it really got ugly.;)

Sheesh, you almost had me thinking you knew what you were talking about but simply had a differing opinion. I stand corrected. You seem to think it is acceptable to make sweeping generalizations based on 30 seconds of a T.V. show. Wow. Please do some actual research before you touch the keyboard again.

And stay away from the T.V. Reality shows are really not reality. Really.

A ragged hole at 7 yards... If he was doing it at 25 I'd be impressed. "Master Shooter"... what an a$$.

He managed to hit a match at 7 yards which isn't all that easy to do. I suspect he is a better shot then most and the equal of anyone who has posted here. Shooting a ragged hole at 25 yards is as much gun related as it is shooter, most duty guns aren't capable of that kind of accuracy from a ransom rest.

The beauty of TV is that we'll never know how many shots it took to hit that match. He can portray himself however he wants on his own TV show. I don't take it too seriously - it's just entertainment.

The video was a joke. Blading is a poor tactic and does not allow the shooter the ability to move. No one naturally stands bladed when faced with a threat or during conversation. You shouldn't be stationary when you shoot unless you're using cover.

He rams his finger too far onto the trigger.

His grip is pure a$$. Try a leading thumbs grip.

Closing and/or squinting your eye only reduces your peripheral vision and depth perception. Not to mention under stress and adrenaline you will not be able to squint or close one eye. Practicing a method that doesn't work under stress is pointless.

Shooting q-tips and matches is nothing but show boating and serves no purpose other than forcing the shooter to focus on the fundamentals.

The one hole group is nothing special. If anyone on the forum can't produce the same they need more range time. On the other side, if all your shots land in a fist sized group or inside the A zone, who cares! Bullets on top of bullets is great, but so are solid hits to the vitals and/or a zone depending on your discipline.

He's slow, taking your time such performance isn't too difficult. Add some speed and do it from the holster.

TDC

ETA: Oh and his "I'm a master shooter" comment. Who gave him that title? What criteria is required to receive such a title? More importantly, who cares if you have a title.
