Heh you guys in central Alberta, just got home from the south Canadian Tire here in Red Deer and they have cases of Federal .223 55gr FMJ for sale in the ammo can for $419.00/1000rd........I was like fat fat kid seeing candy. At least 30 cases still on the floor.

.

Saw that today to...just can't afford to get into another caliber right now. Looks pretty cool with all the ammo boxes stacked up!! I was in there a few weeks ago and was told they weren't getting any more SKSs or M14s because of their image, so it was nice seeing all the ammo boxes on the floor. Maybe they changed their mind about the image thing. Hope so!!

to CDN tire store selectively stock ammo? the one by my house doesnt have much ammo and no guns.

The guy that runs the crappy tire gun shop on Mac trail is a gun rock star. No idea what the arangement is there, but you walk in, have a convential crappy tire with crappy tire people making crappy tire faces, then walk a little further, and it is like being in a knowledgable gun store.

Can't hardly reload for that, not new brass anyhow.

Using once fired military crimped brass with a premium powder (Varget), my reloading cost/1,000 is under $250 using .62 grn Armscor projectiles.
Using surplus WC735 powder, cost drops to $170/1,000.
The "hidden" cost is the time spent in brass prep and actual reloading itself. Treating it as a hobby will justify these disparities. Happy shooting to us all!!!:canadaFlag::ar15:

I was inquiring on here about this awhile back...Apparently; a few of the CT stores in canada have refused to go "Politically Correct" like the rest of the suck asses...and still sell guns, ammunition etc in a "Shooter friendly" environment. :)

Red Deer South (NOT the North Red Deer store), Calgary McLeod Trail in Calgary... in Alberta, and Kenora, Ontario apparently as well as some others...very few overall I understand. God Bless em'!!!!! :)

Thank you, Simpleton!!! :) My Norinco M4 is HUNGRY!!!!

I just picked up my case this morning...I arranged for my work to send me here from Edmonton. I just wish I could "expense" the ammunition too! They still have at least 3 dozen cases at the CT South store here in Red deer. :)

If crappy tire in my neighbourhood sold guns and ammo, I'd shop there for other stuff too - but all they have is 5 year old hunting ammo and apparently no one has a key, so I buy guns and ammo at the gun shop, tools at the tool shop, garden stuff.............. They don't need me and I don't need them - but you'd figure that a CTC 5 mins from a Forces base might make an effort.

I think my local CT is one of the PC ones, all they have is ammo but I still get good deals on .22 from them. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the area that buys any gun stuff from them, one of the guys there said they'd only restocked once since the store opened in 2006 and they'd only restocked the .22 load I use.

But yeah, the one on MacLeod is okay, certainly if you're in the market for a gun safe, go there first.

I just got my best deal ever on 223 this weekend. Big sale at Reliable in Vancouver.
- Remington UMC .223 Rem 55gr @ $75.00 / case of 200rds
Got 1000 for $375 before tax.

I've never tried this ammo before but at that price I couldn't resist. If it groups OK in either my carbine or bolt gun I'll be kicking myself for not getting a few thousand more.

My usual diet is Fiocchi 55gr at about $450 per 1000. Works well.

Mr. Dand owns that franchise, he is an avid hunter and gun nut. His son owns the good one in Red Deer. Lucky for us. I shop there first before any other gun store in our area, unfortunately they don't do reloading supplies.
