i don't agree with a lot of things he says or does, but i think John does try to deliver on the 'big pictue items', so let's what happens and use our manners in the meantime. this wasn't something he 'had' to do, but it's too bad the execution is so messed up.

sounds like he really needs more web designers.

John at Marstar has a loyal following but, he just seems to have the ability to find that one pile of dog poop in the middle of the street. All your problems with pre-orderers and now this would go away if you would have your ducks in a row before you whisper a word of anything to anybody. Keep bringing in the deals for the masses as most people support you.................

WE WILL HAVE A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT BEFORE CLOSING TODAY

Would you like to buy a rifle for $1.00?

Stay tuned,

John

I am sorry that the negative comments have upset you John. I for one apologize that you were so offended, but please realize that you may have caused this ruckus with your opening post.

If you intend to make such posts and not deliver because of a weak excuse (I was in the I.T. business for years and putting together a web ad certainly is not brain surgery) you must expect there to be some backlash.

I have nothing to hide about how I feel about how this was handled from the very start. You have managed to raise quite the buzz about something we now have to wait for Monday for and yet, I am sure you have managed to raise the exact same amount of ire against you for stringing us along and not even having the decency to make a post that there would be delays until the next day.

Some may call it whining, some may call it being pissy. I call it holding retailers up to a standard that they would have us believe they uphold themselves. If you want us to feel you provide good service, then do so. I f you want us to believe you honour your agreements, then do so. If you want us to believe that you are hones, then be honest.

I am not accusing you of not being any of these things, but I am calling you out on what was a poorly thought out and poorly handled announcement of a promotion.

If the ad could not be finished by end of day, what was stopping you from letting us know that evening?

I have respectfully made my opinion known openly and online. I have made a decision based on what I see as a bad business decision on your part for not being forthright and up front with the details.

You can dress it up any way you wish and call us all ungrateful for whining about your Christmas Gift to us. We all know it is a business transaction, not a gift. We all know that this in the end will make you a profit, so please save the berating us for not genuflecting at the altar of your generosity.

If you truly wanted to be open and honest about the deal, then you would let us know what it is now.

I have said my peace in what I hope has been an intelligent and respectful manner. Let the flaming away on me begin.

With Respect,

Matt

This is why it's a pain in the ass to be a businessman in Canada these days...

The sence of self entitlement around here is unbelieveable. You actually believe you're owed an apology?? John offers a firearm for $1 and because there was a slipup in the ad and you have to wait to hear what it is that he's GIVING AWAY, you feel that you're owed a f*cking apology???

...unbelieveable.

Merry Christman John... no good deed goes unpunished.

Well if you have a store front and put up a sign indicating a special today at this time you damn sure better have something to show for it. Otherwise you will have alot of ass kissing to do.

Maby the problem is online dealers with no real accountability to their customers.

Faceless transactions and online orderforms dont leave much room for accountability.

If I did this same thing at my store there would be huge reprecutions.

But I guess when you own your own business and dont have any face to face interaction with customers you really arent accountable to anyone.

I dont care either way but it would be a nice change to see someone take responsibilty for their errors.

John is always top notch, he has always given me great service. There seems to be a lot of impatient people here, a solid mix of ancient curmudgeons and rude pimply faced recent high school dropouts.

John, I already put my name down a few pages back. Great offer no matter what it is!!

Wow, John goes out of his way to put together what seems to be a helluva deal, and people go and get all pissy because the formal announcement is a bit behind schedule....Big deal. Seems we have a few drama queens in our midst. Great to see an offer of goodwill received and replied to in such a positive and courteous manner. I can only imagine how some of these posts on here have really made John want to go out and continue to offer specials and deals due to the amount of gratitude and patience shown by some. On a more positive note: Thanks John, I(and the majority of the posters on this thread)look forward to finding out more about this on Mon.

I feel the same way

sure nobody want to miss anything .....like i missed those vz 58 recievers.....:( and alot of other cool things .....everybody has a choice I think many people take things way too seriously at times

Funny. Anyway, glitch or not, gimme the rifle!! :p

If you read Johns other posts above you'll see that he states the ad should have said firearm for $1 not a rifle. So that'll give the whiners more to cry about. LOL. Now carry on speculating what he may be offering. " A Firearm" hmmmm:rolleyes::confused:

Don't sweat the petulant kids with the over inflated sense of entitlement John.

It's obvious they are even more perfect than our Lord and Savior and have never ever f*cked up. I'm pretty sure I read on the internetz that they don't even have to piss or sh!t...

...no one is in their league.

:jerkit:

I can't believe people think John owes them an appology. In fact, I can't believe the level of #### John gets for the smallest issues. I have to take my hat off to him for putting up with the complaints as well as he does. Kudos also for allowing people to air their grievences in a public forum and not deleting the posts. I guess it goes hand in hand with doing business, but it does look discouraging. As far as I can tell, John offers good product at good prices, and service is good enough. I would not hesitate to buy from him, and I look forward to seeing what this deal is!

I for one would have paid money for the just the entertainment value alone last night.....trying to get a great deal and at the same time LMAO ..... was more fun than TV...some of the posts made were very funny...but I can see why and sympathize with why some people were upset with the way the promotion was handled..alot of people jumped to the wrong conclusion as to why and from there some were rude and disrepectfull comments made by a few....( cant imagine that on the faceless web with little or no accountability ***)
Today peoples sense of entitlement and instant gratification coupled with some bad manners leads to more problems....but the vast majority of people were just trying to get in on a deal or trying to be funny IMHO......With that said better communication both ways is in order I feel

So my 2 cents is......Thanks for your offer John ...

So would everyone think differently if you had lined up in front of a store only to be told sorry not happening till Monday!

Unbelievable!

I am the assistant manager of a retail store and I cant even begin to imagine what would happen if I pulled a stunt like this.

I, we, us are all gun nuts. We are all addicted to or have a slight dependency on things related to guns. Offering up guns for a dollar at the close of buisness is like offering up a rock of crack for a buck. The pookies will be lined up around the block waiting for the deal.

I am one of the foolish that stayed up into the wee hours praying that it was gonna be the last man standing and get in on the deal. I was sadly wrong.

There seems to be some major ass sniffing going on here and I don't know why. I have nothing against John, marstar or any of his employees. I love his website and have spent many hours reading the marstar forum. John dropped the ball. I love the offer but the way we were just left hanging like that I found to be a little insulting. A quick little post saying you were unable to release the special due to what ever reason would have been nice.

Not a hater!
Just a nut!
Jeff

This thread reminds me so much of all the pissy posts in the thread a few years back where GreenTips was GIVING away a bunch of firearms to celebrate the tenth anniversary of CGN.
