HK USC to UMP conversion

Anyone know where to get a fake can that will fit over the barrel?

MFI Manufacturing makes them:

They are pretty expensive though, 175 bucks US. I think they attach via a set screw so they don't move around or anything.

Im not sure whom carries MFI stuff, they used to be an airsoft company but now do a lot of gun stuff, so I dont think you could pass it off as an airsoft or paintball part....

I got one a long time ago for my Mark23, its a very nice product. It was part of a large group buy so the cost was 95 bucks or something.

MFI no longer imports products into canada. I tried to get a fake can for my PS90 about a month ago, talked on the phone with a company rep.

No longer allowed to export stuff. If you can get one, let me know how.

It begins! Its not a total UMP conversion. Got an extra lower on the EE and added an MP5 stock.
If you haven't noticed, I like the old school HK. :D

The things I'd do for a USC with an MP5A3 type retractable butt-stock. But that A2 butt-stock looks really swell. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Did Ellwood send you the barrel or did you have to send your gun in? I want to buy a longer barrel but they said I needed to send the rifle in.

Yep me too. And Bits of Pieces as well.

Im not gonna send my finished USC/UMP conversion in, after spending probably 4000-4500 dollars on all the stuff for it.... I can more than easily do the fitting of the barrel and get P&D to verify the new status.

But as it is, I love the 8" barrel and I'll deal with the restricted status. not gonna send my gun in, and be without it for 2-3 months, not with the long gun registry still in effect. Maybe a different story if the long gun registry was gone, and I had a chance to get my USC out of the system so they cant steal it from me!

Its a line of bull quite frankly as all USC receivers are the same, and if they can machine one barrel they can machine a thousand, all the same and send them out. Not sure what the reasoning is but to date, I have yet to get a good answer so having one made elsewhere and legally imported.

I was temped to just buy a 26" barrel blank in .45 and have a local machine shop profile it. With the factory barrel it would be more than easy to copy it.

They might be worried about people complaining if they get a barrel thats out of spec or not very accurate, but I even told them I could measure the shank and have them make it SLIGHTLY oversize and fit the barrel myself (which I am more than capable of doing).

In any case, with the long gun registry still here, there's no real reason for ME to change the classification, I usually only go to shooting ranges anyway. Maybe in the future if the long gun registry is toasted I may go for it...

Raptor, something to think about, no real need to change it, as per your rational on the registry. Other than gopher hunting with it on occasion and storage regs.

I wonder if an HK 416C buttstock would work with the HERA USC/AR conversion?:D

If I could get my hands on that stock I could try it out on my USC/UMP conversion. (since mine uses AR15 buffer tubes)

Im not sure what the width on those rails is. I guess it would be possible to create a tele stock for the USC/UMP, it would just take a lot of machining on the parts!
