Same here: for both 9mm, .303, and .308 I break up the process into case prep/priming and powder/seat stages. It's certainly doable. Some of us can't afford more than a single stage press.

Bought 'em at WSS. I've been using SMK 174gr HPBT, #2315. For now, that project (turning a No.4 Mk.2 into a target rifle) is on hold while I see if I can make a shooter out of a sportered No.1 Mk.3, so I'm using the bullets I bought for the No. 4. I admit they're a tad expensive. ;)
I believe there was another thread recently where someone mentioned a plated lead bullet similar to the CMJ's like Berry's or CamPro, only for .303. I'd like to know more about those.
 
Is the SRFC loaded with new brass or mixed range brass. Personally, I like to keep the headstamps sorted as each make has slight differences in brass composition.
You can tell when using an undersize die for sizing some brass is harder than others.
Might as well eliminate as many variables as possible.

I would love to see some break downs on pricing as well. I am down to about $.19 a round for 9mm but would love to cut a nickle off that. I am trying to buy in bulk, save on shipping etc but when I add up the tax, shipping, and price of the items, am still higher then most here.

124gr FMJ $.141
W-231 4.7gr $.016
Fed primer $.037
 
Armscor 124gr 1000 rounds 130+tax+shipping.

The Cam pro I found are 125+tax+shipping but I wasn't ordering anything else so shipping was triple and didn't justify the 5$ savings.
 
depends how much you shoot, and how good you are a sniffing out deals, and buy in bulk when you find a deal, i can load 1k of 9mm with a 124grain AIM plated bullet for about 145$, if i went with cast it would be about 110$. Ive shot about 3.5k of reloaded 9mm this year no way i could have afforded to shoot that much on a students budget with factory ammo.

1) Cast bullets.... Free
2) Range Brass.... Free
3) WIN 231 powder.... 1.3Cents per loaded round
4) CCI primers.... 3.6 cents per loaded round

Cost per box of 50 is about 2.45 by this method but add incidentals tax etc and it gets to about 4.50.... even if you bought cast bullets by the pail it would bump it up to about 6 dollars/box. No confusion here;)

All things considered its about half the cost of purchasing a box of factory stuff. which is good enough for me! d:h::p
 
Well, I have scrounged about 500lbs of wheel weights the last two days as I am fast learning it's the bullet that is killing me cost wise. I also pick up as much free brass as I can.

I also found the AIM plated 124g for a decent price on 10K lots.

should be a fun winter of reloading!

Been dealing with him since the turn of the millenium and he is great to deal with, a real stand-up guy.

His price for Berry's 124 grn PRN is $83/1000 and 124 grn PHP (plated hollow point) is $89/1000.
 
The absolute best part about casting your own bullets and making your own ammo is that you're keeping the sticky finger of the goobermint out of your ammo! To me, that ALONE makes it worth my while.

Anything I can buy used, 2nd-hand or whatever, is worth money to me in pure satisfaction. If you live in BC, and specifically in the lower mainland, you'll know why I feel that way, every single time you fill up the tank.
