In the near Future, G21SF Gen4 vs. XDM 45?

Oh well,

I need a plastic gun. I already have my 1911 for target shooting and i need a CCW (in my dreams Canada!).

So should i wait for the 4th Gen G21SF or just get the G21SF 3rd gen now?
I watched the torture test on the G21 and boy was I sold!

XD torture test? i saw one for the 9mm only not 45.
Note, reliability is first here. In case the zombies comes marching it will fire 100%.

I heard the XDM 45s are coming in Canada 2nd week of Dec. (i might be wrong).
If the G21SF4G comes Jan or Feb. I will probably wait.

Now the dreaded question, is one better than the other?
In terms of reliability, durability, looks, and money's worth?
(in that order of importance)

I would go third gen Glock, history proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, if it fits your hand. Gen4 still unproven especially in G21. I have to admit although I have shot quite a few XD's, I have never taken a liking to them. Xd owners.. umm I mean fans will surely chime and say otherwise.

IMO, in order- Gen3, Gen4 (FNP45, others etc........ XD(m)

I own a G21SF Gen3 and I loved it, I wouldn't own a XDM nor would I accept one if it was given to me!!!!

Yes it's already out, miner changes ie.. Weaver rail instead of glock rail, ambi mag button release, duel recoil springs etc...

I love my 3rd gen G21 SF. Never a hiccup; she's digested every round I've fed her. I've never handled a 4th gen, so I can't comment, but the 3rd gen is definitely worth the money.

i have an xd45 i have shot the g21 and i prefer the xd over it. for two reasons, i like the grips better and imo the factory trigger on the xd is better

For a polymer .45, I would choose a S&W M&P or HK45 over the two choices listed.

Glocks in other calibres don't have quite as good of a track record as the 9mm ones, but I would still take a 3rd generation 21SF over any version of the XD.

3rd Gen Glock 21SF with Glock Rail / non ambi mag release.

If it's a Gen4, a SF model would be unnecessary since you could swap the backstraps.

Personally I hate Glocks and would never own one, but in your shoes I would buy the Gen 3 21F, proven beyond a doubt, available now, and judging by your posts is your absolute preference. If you don't like it put it on the EE and it will most likely sell much faster than the XD simply because Glock has cult like following. Proven platforms meet you criteria better than new ones. Don't wait for the Gen 4 as it may have a bug or two that needs work and kills your first two criteria.

If you can afford it HK will serve you very very very well.
