I think most of you would (hopefully) have a different opinion if her second shot had blown the animal's face in half. Do you think they would have shown that on TV? Do you think they would have extended the episode so Sarah's dad could track it down?

Get real. The only thing that's in her blood is manipulating her base.

And Ardent, I go all over and I've spent plenty of time fishing and camping up north. Winnipeg is where I bought a house but my home is in the bush. Never hunted caribou but I've have watched them. I'm going off anecdotal evidence by other Alaskan hunters who would lead me to believe the animal was livestock and the whole thing a big publicity stunt.

Funny how everyone would be giving a member here sh1t for hunting whitetail like that, but since it's a pro-gun politician making an a$$ of herself in public you're all for it. All it does is alienate anyone on the edge of being pro- or anti-
 
She's a garbage shot and a f*cking retard, but I'd still take her a million times a day over Wendy Cukier or Bev Akerman.

However, I don't think that's really what I'd call a "good" clip to promote hunting as a sport and tradition. That was total, utter garbage. Hang your head in shame, seriously.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a federal politician who at least pretended to like hunting? What matters is that Sarah Palin supports hunting and gun ownership, and that's the message she's attempting to get out.

Oh, for the record, caribou are pretty dim and sometimes don't seem to care if they live or not. When the bugs get bad during the summer I can't say I blame them.

I was too busy staring at those beautiful dark-brown eyes....yes, she's hot.

For as long as I can remember, pro-hunting celebrities and politicians (other than Mr. Heston) have kept a very low profile, almost as though they were ashamed. It's about time that someone, shouts out loud to everyone that they practice and enjoy hunting.

The backlash from the show has been astounding. The screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin recently wrote an article criticizing Palin.Here's a few tidbits of what he said:

"I don't watch snuff films and you make them. You weren't killing that animal for food or shelter or even fashion, you were killing it for fun. You enjoy killing animals. ...I can't make a distinction between what you get paid to do and what Michael Vick went to prison for doing. ...I get happy every time one of you faux-macho ####heads accidentally shoots another one of you in the face."

So you see, I don't care one bit how well she shoulders her rifle, cycles the bolt or even if she's a bad shot. The important thing is that she's out there proudly participating in a traditional family-friendly sport. Take that and smoke it in your crack pipe Mr. Sorkin!

Not a problem. If her bullet (having missed the target) had gone on and killed somebody (or even just hurt them) she would have pardoned herself.
 
Holy cow what a load of clueless ranting sounds like a bunch of emotional spewing liebrals/dippers spouting off against Harper in a CBC comments section...

My wife who is vegetarian and is basically anti hunting and was anti gun before she met me likes to watch Sarah Palin's Alaska since she started watching it she has now seen Sarah fishing/shooting trap/hunting she is loving the show and is starting to lighten up on her anti hunting stance.

Myself I couldn't care less if Sarah has never fired a gun or hunted before she is out there doing more for our sport than anyone else...

When someone with a large public image makes a disgraceful spectacle of a sport and tradition that I love in the deepest parts of my heart, it makes me rage. And I don't give too hoots what you want to call my rant - it is what it is and I'm damn proud of every word.

I don't agree with what your side has to say about her peep-show, but at least I'm above ad hominem.

You and those of you who give her any credit at all still don't get it. She's potentially running for federal office and her entire emotional platform (trust me, I'm a life-long (her words) hunter, pro-gun blah blah blah) is based on LIES that she's just shown off. You don't have a clue who she really is. It's terrifying to think that she may one day be at the reigns of the most powerful military force in the world.

She's nothing but a liar. If I had my way, any politician who intentionally lies to their voting base would get thrown out of office. Good luck passing that.

Ever wondered why politics are so disenchanting these days? Because politicians get away with lying. Here's one flaunting it and you're thinking she's HOT?!

Nothing gets me going like a ###y politician shooting guns, but the sight of her makes me want to turn inside out.

Is she a great hunter...NO...she IS better for us that would like hunting & shooting to continue than the vast majority of Politicians anywhere in N America!

Perhaps you could give us your definition of an avid hunter? Someone that hunts every day is OK, but someone who has a very busy life & doesn't get out as much as you shouldn't be allowed to use the term lifelong?

Oh I forgot as soon as her father fell they should have dropped everything & put up a target :cool: Looks to me like they were being much more honest about it than most other publications or Politians. How simple would it have been to CUT out the part where she missed! They could easily portrayed a quick one shot kill, would you then be dancing a jig, I doubt it, sounds like you'd just look for something else to dump on her.

Do you actually think that even if she became president that she would have any authority over what her controllers tell her too do?

Many here in Canada that lean left hate/spew against Harper exactly how you are spewing against Palin which is why I threw out the L word... :p

and I will repeat once again due to the show "Sarah Palin's Alaska" my wife is lightening up on me and my hunting so there are side benefits for me that far outweigh the negatives I have been dealing with for years I mean she even went camping with me while I was hunting last month that has never happened before and it was right after she started watching the show...

I think the answer you were looking for is "None." And when you say 'plenty' of camping, fishing, and most importantly Caribou watching in the North, I'm hope you mean North of 60 / in the Territories? You must have found some very flighty Caribou up there.

I'm giving you a hard time (though I'd still like to hear the answers to the above), because you're making a strong piss and vinegar argument that Palin hunting on TV, however poorly, is a bad thing. Palin actually does hunt, fish, and get outdoors but not necessarily well. She's also a political sham, but that's not the point here, though it seems where you want to go. To be truthful, I haven't even watched the show and just for the first time watched 45 seconds of the clip at the beginning of this thread. Looks pretty standard for a female hunter, the gun handling, etc. My wife would likely act in a similar fashion, you don't need to take 6 head of big game a season to quote oneself as a "lifelong hunter". A little cheesy if you're novice and haven't advanced past that, but in the end, who really cares what she's trying to say is she's in the hunter's corner. As the governor of Alaska, I think just fine, as the president, that's the only place we agree that would be a nightmare. Now please enlighten those of us who are confused by your Caribou experience where you came to grow such a strong opinion and ability to judge farmed Caribou, and how far North your frequent trips are? Reason I'm digging so hard is that behaviour isn't surprising at all for Caribou. You even had a Caribou hunting guide from the Yukon suggest the same in this very thread. :) I've also never heard of farmed Caribou?? Perhaps they're out there, I've seen a few domesticated ones, but never been made aware of a high fence Caribou hunting ranch. There's just no need.
 
as far as i'm concerned, in a world of people trying to restrict our hunting and fishing rights, having a public figure on video, hunting, not breaking any laws, taking an animal (even though she look like a novice), is a good thing for us hunters, fishermen, trappers, outdoorsmen. Who cares if it was a dumb caribou, she supports us while thousands don't.

nobody is perfect-- even if they think so in there own mind.
Scopes get knocked out of line,
They could have edited the part out where she missed , but maybe they wanted to show it for real, with no cut outs, Maybe being honest!!
My daughter has hunted with me on ocasion and would probaly look like the same novice type, doesnt mean she doesnt care for hunting.
