.22 mag semi choices

One of the best 22.mag semi-auto"s ever made was by CZ I dont know the modle name but very well made. You can see a few pop uo at gun shows around 600$ or so. Theres one coming up in woodstock and I saw 2 there last time. I think this is the same gun dutch is taking about.

If you are looking for a new one, you may be out of luck. Unfortunately, the reputable semi .22 mag. rifles have all been discontinued (10/22 - Berno 611...), due to a limited market. As far as I know, the only one still in production is Rem. 597 which I dislike. If I am wrong, please correct me. I love to get my hands on a new semi .22 mag.

I have the 597 with the HB and laminated stock , It shoots great and is reliable as well , eats everything I feed it and rairly jams. I did have 3 10/22 magnums and sold them if that helps

BCboy; what turned me off with 597 mag. was all these talk about their alloy receivers cracking and general Rem. quality (or lack there of it!) issues.

Good to know that you are happy with yours. Maybe I should take a look at a HB. Do you know who has them in stock or what the going prices are?

Never heard of them cracking befor and I wouldent worry about the type of alloy the receiver is made of.If it was a prone to cracking you would hear alot more complaints about it
Dont know where you might find one , but very happy with mine

The new CZ 512 is available in .22 Mag. Not sure how good it is though. I was going to order one from Wolverine but the salesperson who actually shot the gun said it wasn't that great so I passed on it.

Guys , I'm looking for a .22mag semi auto .
What choices do I have ?
Is there a such thing as a tacticool .22mag semi out there ?

Although I think this may only be in .22lr. It's made by Magnum Research, Inc. PM me for more info.

I paid $450 for a 10/22M with extra Butler creek target barrel and stock. The std. barrel and stock had not been used at all. I don't think $450 is to much $$$$

What is the need for .22WMR? I don't see a true advantage to it, except that the ammo is overpriced, and that you have almost no options for firearms. Oh, wait. Those aren't advantages! :)

they make a bigger bang, can shoot longer distances, faster ,more energy , ay $9 a box cheaper than a 17hmr and as far as "need" because I want one ,kinda like a 60" HDTV I dont need it ,But I have it ;)

What's the need ? Well , it's more of a want .
I'll be hunting with it ....'yotes and jacks and it's something different to add to my arsenal ;) .
Ammo pricing is not an issue.
I can find the most expensive box of .22mag ammo and it will still be waaaay cheaper than a econo priced box of centerfire.

Darn you, never having to be price conscious. I still think 22WMR ammo is too expensive. :p

.22 win. mag.

Out here in good old Saskatchewan you can't carry a centerfire rifle for hunting furbearers during an open big game season. Thats where the .22 magnum comes in handy for coyote sized critters. It is a good cartridge for knocking down a steer or hog at butchering time too. Yeah the ammo is pricey but so is booze and smokes but we still pay don't we? No offense but you can keep your .17 cals. Bullets are too light for the windy prairies. My buddy just picked up a used Marlin 915 (Ithink). It is a .22 mag semi-auto. He loves it.

I don't use anything but my 22LR's and my 7mm Rem Mag in Eastern Newfoundland. The 17's don't have much use here except for scratching your ass with. Btw, I was born in beautiful BC and lived in Saskatchewan for a bit. I know what you mean. My grandfather has taken so many animals with a 22WMR that he passed down, it seems too valuable to shoot. I never boarded the WMR train either though.
