Hey,

I ordered a cz75 Shadow, any experience or things to do, stuff to look for? Reliability report?

Regards

Bought one a few years ago, still my favorite pistol. If it stove pipes on you, put in a 13lb mainspring and it will be problem free! Also I put in a 3.5lb trigger...love this gun!

What do you mean??

I have 2 Shadows right now that I use for IPSC.

I have resprung my guns for this sport.

If you intend to use this gun for IPSC then the standard is an 11# recoil spring and a 13#mainspring.

If you bought it simply as a target or plinking piece shoot it like it comes out of the box.

+1 for springs John mentioned. It makes a great gun even better and costs are cheap for a couple of springs. Lots of videos on Youtube as to do change over.

Cheers

I agree and as mentioned in my last post, I put in a 13lb mainspring and it made a big difference. Trekstor, the reason I did the trigger is that one of the guys at Reliable guns where I bought the pistol did a trigger job on his and I really liked the improved pull on it, besides they did it for free. The one thing I will say about the trigger job is you have to be very aware of the pull as the pistol can get away from you every now and then. The main thing to consider as mentioned on this post is the 13lb mainspring-I would recommend you get this done right away. Have fun with this AWESOME pistol!!

The other thing to remember with a 'trigger job' is that it is no longer legal for IPSC Production Division. You can still use it but you will have to shoot in Standard.

My take would differ.
You are allowed to smooth things out for IPSC Prod. Div. You are allowed to use lighter springs too.
I change factory mag springs with +10% in all mags to help preventing double feeding and modify slide locks too. It all falls under 'reliability' clause.
As long as DA trigger pull is 5lbs+ you can use say 13# main spring with 2-3 coils cut off. And extended firing pins are now standard in Short Dust Cover Shadows, so, being standard part it's also allowed (resulting in reliable primer ignition with light main spring and CCI primers).

Also, CZ -USA has a new 2011 Catalogue with a few new and exciting offerings:

The lovely missus just picked her Shadow up on Friday. We immediately hit the pistol bay, and after she put a few dozen rounds through it, I picked it up and hit dead center on the target at 10 meters with my very first shot........

Yup, the Shadow is a shooter, right out of the box.:D

John,

If I'm in the wrong - I'm in the wrong; and I'll accept it and will try my best to make it right for whoever is involved.
If I made a misleading claim on here I'm VERY sorry, but I doubt it.
All the info on IPSC I ever tried to relay is what I get from quite reputable people who are well known shooting IPSC for many years. I have reasons to trust Angus and Brian.
Me on other hand - I never once shot IPSC match as I shoot IDPA (Canada and USA) and USPSA (USA) as of now.
We actually met in person at last IDPA BC Provincials and we dealt too in the past with you buying something from me. If you have something you are not happy with - please, let me know, I'll fix it.

If I ever posted incorrect info - please, correct me and post correct info, I'm not gonna be offended. We are all here to 'get it right', in the long run. I do care for my name on here and everywhere else too.

Cheers,
E.D.
