Everybody has tried the 6.5-.284. I've been promoting the 7mm-.284. Case forming is much easier.

I would be happy to invest in your idea, and will soon wire you a down payment of $10,000 towards the effort, to cover tooling setup and production of the first 100 cartridges. Further investment will be possible once my windfall from Nigeria gets here (should be soon I think, in fact it's long overdue).

I have but two requests: that the custom brass be made by Winchester; and that it be named simply "284".

We know all of the shortcomings of the 270, so we could neck it up and use 220 gr of heavier bullets, and you could still go light with 100 gr for varmints, all using readily available 270 brass.

Remember - I thought of it first.

Outstanding - I would call it the "280" so as to not confuse it with the "284" that Tiriaq just invented.

P.S. This was supposed to be all fun and it's too bad that this thread had some low points (including my comments). It's nice to see it back where it belongs.

It will never work. The 30 cal is dead, brass will cost money (you know how CGN'ers hate to spend money), it will require a long action (way too much hassle), and the recoil will be more then a 22 LR. Plus it isn't tacticool enough. Nope, not a hope in hell, sorry.

I fear it won't catch on due to the long case length; that's not going to cycle through a lever action real well. If you were to shorten it up some and add a rim to the brass it would be so much more suitable for general, all around use. . . calibre seems about right though You could call it the .30NWCF (NOW we've come far)
