where to buy Lead?

where can I buy lead for bullet casting in Ontario..I already google it but all I get it US or Uk dealers.. wheel weights will not going to work for me I do not have space to do it, my back yard is too small, I leave in a heavy populated area my noisy neighbors will complain for sure..my only option is to buy the lead itself to make my bullets.

Agreed. I was thinking of using them for slugs, but then chanced across 300 slugs at a very good price, so maybe later.

For just bullets, the pricing is too high.

Try eBay - search "lead ingot". You'll have less control over the hardness of the lead, but the pricing is a lot better.
 
I wonder how much cheaper these orders are if you pick them up. The quoted prices appear to be shipped.
 
Buy fishing wights. To make lead harder add zinc or the metal used for soldering while melting lead.
For proportions google metallurgy it will give you exact proportions but it is not to much magic in it
 
Zinc is the absolute last thing you want in your lead alloy. Antimony is what is usually added to pure lead for hardness.

ZINCf:P: No, no and another no! Tin and linotype (which has antimony) to harden and even then tin will only get you so far.
10 lbs. cannon balls around here go for around $40 so this is not economical either, but if given...
 
it seems like I am not the only one looking to buy lead, why not we group together (guys from GTA) and place a big order to Alchemy Casting so we get it cheap and we will just divided amongst our self.. I am from Oakville and I have a pickup truck we can pick it up in there place..just a suggestion.. :)
 
If you do get some wheel weights you can just melt them in whatever you planned on casting your bullets from as you make bullets. It's is more inconvienient than melting 100lbs down outside and then using clean ingots in your casting pot, but many people started out this way including me.

i cast all the time and it is way easier to melt down the wheelweights and get clean lead first and then cast your bullets. melting down wheelweights and casting at the same time is going to be a very dirty and smokey job as the grime has to go somewhere. i have a auto repair shop that gives me the wheelweights just to get rid of them.
