After a lot of reading on your post guys. i decide to jump into the ar club and order one from marstar. But i think a lot about the bolt problem on these carbine. Is it really a common problem. So many year of waiting for buying an ar, so i doesn't want to be dissapointed... Everyone talk about a good finish and no issue with the operation. I had to norc gun and i have been not very happy. Always a small thing in my mind. The m14: it was the rear sight and with the 1911, some big mark on the side of the frame. But at the end it's 700$ instead or 2000. I will use it 8-10 times a year, maybe 1 ipsc rifle match.

Ar bolts, carriers, or components are cheap anyways!

If you want an AR on the Cheap the Remington R-15 is a great deal! $1200 is common nowadays, and at that price they shoot awesome.

Not a CQB style gun and the camo is different but mine is a tackdriver, and a lot of fun!

Did I sleep through the s**storm of Norinco bolt failures throughout Kanada resulting in the deaths, or maiming, of hundreds of innocent shooters?
Because, if I did, it would finally lend credence to the incessant chant of the baying hordes of Norinco Hater's Mantra....' cheap, Chinese, knockoff s**t. I told you someone would end up crying!!'
Or maybe I didn't, but I would still be delighted to be enlightened as to the initial reference..."bolt problem".. of which we speak.

The good people of Sudan love Chinese weapons, with out Norinco they would not be able to arm the child militas used for genocide in Darfur

my norinco cq m4 bolt exploded apon the first shot down the barrel. 6 innocent babies, 12 tree huggers and 23689 liberals were killed in the resulting explosion. luckily since im a conservative i was not injured. all norincos are now to be made phrohibited because of their awesome power that can not be tamed by any mortal. beware the bolts. :runaway:

We love cheap

The bottom line is we love cheap.

And at the end of the day Canadians (shooters not excluded) chose not not give too much thought re: the politics/human rights and all other troublesome/worrisome issues from the Red Chinese. WE STILL BUY THEIR PRODUCT BY THE BOATLOAD.

China is a communist country with a worrisome record. But hey, if we can acquire an arsenal for less than a grand (pistol, shotgun, rifle), who gives a hoot if they pay slave wages, abuse their population, frighten their neighbours and sell products that are a wee bit on the rough side (yeah I know they work just fine, thank you).

As I said, WE LOVE CHEAP!!!!!!!!

My bolt didnt lock open when I got mine either but unscrewed the buffer tube one turn and fixed. Dont worry about the gun it'll be fine. Heres food for thought, you can buy a Norinco AR, new grip, CMMG .22 conversion kit, a decent red dot, flip up rear sight, 1000 rnds .22, 1000 rnds .223 all for under $2,000. And now you have an AR and a .22 and more options then anything else on the market. Or you could buy a Norinco AR and a CZ 858 a crate of ammo for both and still be cheaper than an XCR. Unless your in love with something else its a great deal.

Whatever you shoot remember this," ALWAYS WEAR QUALITY EYE PROTECTION!" Fatalities from firearm problems are rare to the shooter(usually people inline with muzzle end are at greatest risk) , but the greatest gift of ours ,which is sight needs to be protected from the unexpected no matter what you shoot.

Happy New Year All!

The R15 is still best bang for the buck IMO. lots of pure shooter stuff; free float tube, good trigger, full circle carrier, good barrel. I have shot the snot out of mine, and really enjoy it. Plan to shoot the snot out of it a couple more times.

My norc lower on the other hand. Not bad, but stuff is fzucked with it from the get go. The buffer retainer spring was more of a coil of immovable cosmoed rust then a spring for example. The buffer tube is retained by nothing, and the trigger had a sharp ridge on it. Much like the norc-14s, nothing hard to fix, but it makes me question if I am QAing that sort of low hanging fruit, what don't I know about?

If someone is looking for uber AR, I give them the uber list. If they want the best bang for the buck, I say R15. If they want the cheapest that they can AR with, I say norc.

My only issue with my Norc M4 was I can't get out to shoot it enough.

Seriously, it is the best money I have EVER put into a rifle. My CZ 452 is a close second. I am not an AR expert at all but have wanted to get into ARs for a LONG time and never had the cash to put out for a $2000 range gun until these came along. This gets me in the game cheap and at the same time I got a great shooting, reliable rifle.

As far as the R15s go I have seen them at matches billow smoke and stink from the paint overheating. Which causes the shooter to not be able to see the target and the problem gets worse as they desperately try to hit the target and the gun just gets hotter and hotter and the smoke gets thicker. That said they could be sent to a smith to be blasted and re-finished with a normal coating. At one match a couple years back I saw this happen a few times with guys using the R15 and was not impressed.

Buddy has a norc AR we beat the piss out of, the only love it gets is high quality grease for lubrication. It goes bang every time, and while the bolt doesn't alway lock back on a dry mag, it sure it is riot to shoot.

Post of the day.

Dont know about any of those problems, rusty buffer spring, and your buffer had nothing to retain it? Does that mean no castle nut? Anyway buy the 2010 CQ 5.56 I got mine and its awesome I think people confuse them with buying a ####ty old car with rust and dents thought to be new. If my gun would have shown up rusty with missing parts it would have been sent right back. Many guys also compete with these guns and swear by them. If your bolt doesnt lock open try unscrewing your buffer tube one turn and I bet its fixed.

I have a Norc M4 too. I have lots of fun with it, too bad I paid $850 for it.

I think some people have a very distorted view of China. What we read in the press is at most 1% of the real China. This is a blog of a Canadian in China.

You know, my co-worker had a friend in Sweden call and say that East Van must be a warzone because of all the gang violence here, and how he should move out because it was horribly unsafe, it was big news in europe.

You wouldn't believe the distorted view media portrays when glamorizing certain aspects of a story.

That being said, people over here across the ocean only see and hear what the news wants them to hear, they have never been, never want to go, and only want to believe that China is a communist cesspit that is hell on earth.

Its not the free west as we know it, but it sure as hell isn't as bad as they make it out to be.

But don't start with these people, they won't listen.

I have friends here in Toronto that said they will never moved to Vancouver because of the "gun violence" there despite the weather. Some people read one article and assume it is the whole picture.

PS: That's not even a Chinese AK in the pic.

Carbonrod: What do you mean when you say that your Norinco lowers' buffer tube is retained by nothing? Does your rifle not have a castle nut on the buffer tube?
