Kel-tec bullpup shotgun

Oh come on. I'm not even a shotgun fan and I'd have to get one.

The good news is, it took 3 years before the RFB finally became available. I should get mine in a few weeks. So I would expect another 3 years for the shotgun. Which gives lots of time to save up.

FYI, Department of State does not regulate the export of shotguns with barrels over 18". The Department of Commerce does.

The only thing is, I think even with the 5 round limit I'd prefer a mag fed auto loader. Would be leaner as well. That front would probably get a bit heavy when full.

I wonder how smooth and workable {or not} the action is? Also wondering if it breaks open to load as on the Neostead or if it has to be loaded through the bottom port?

Gentlemen, found more excited info on the KSG:

Obviously there is a selector behind the grip to choose which mag tube to load from (manually) or select center position and unload the round from the chamber without loading, more info can be found here:

This is a must have to piss the libby off if it becomes available with a non-restricted status!:D

-9.5lbs loaded weight (buck shot I believe)

Questions answered:
-What happens when one tube is empty, does it automatically switch to the other?
No auto switching, you have to manually switch when one tube is empty.

-Why pump, and not semi-auto?
This is Kel-Tec's first shotgun, it makes sense to start with a pump first. Most semi-auto designs started as pumps. A pump is also legal in California and many other states that have gun bans.

-Can it accept chokes?
no, not currently. but barrels can be changed fairly easily, so perhaps in the future.

-How do you load each tube?
similar to other shotguns, but to make it easier, you can use gravity to help. If you want to load the right tube, switch the selector to the right, point the gun down and tilt it to the right. This makes the shells naturally point towards the right mag tube. Then just push each round in the tube until it clicks past the stop. With a little practice, you can do it without looking. To load the Left tube, move the switch to the left and tilt the gun to the let and load.

Description of design/controls:
-Square button above trigger guard is the safety (cross-bolt style)
-Lever n Front of the trigger guard is the pump latch. pull down to unlock and allow un-chambering or cycling without dropping the hammer (dropping the hammer automatically unlocks the pump in order the chamber the next round)
-Lever at front end of the ejection/loading port is the magazine selector. Left/Center/Right. Center position blocks both mags so you can un-chamber a round and not chamber a new one.
-2 assembly pins hold the grip on, they are retained by a spring clip in the pin. when they are removed they can be stored in the 2 holes in the grip.
-bolt is locked with a toggle-lock into the barrel extension. ejection/feeding is also similar to most shotguns with a fork like elevator/ejector
-carrier is attached to the pump via dual action rods

You do realize that the "FRT lab" are the same people that declared the GSG5 (.22 rimfire with NO parts in common with an MP5) an MP5 variant.....right? That's just one example in a LONG list of stuff that they made up on the spot. There is no logic or basis behind how they classify a gun....they WILL classify to suit their agenda.

Do you not get it? The RCMP are the people who decide if a gun can come in as non-res. ....and if it's a matter of finding that .015" to prevent another "scary" firearm coming onto the country, they are gonna do it.

The GSG-5 utilizes the H&K style drum sight that is adjustable for windage. German Sport Guns provides a weaver rail attachment that slides onto the top of the frame, allowing other sighting systems to be added.

Lawsuit

In 2009, Heckler & Koch instituted a lawsuit against German Sport Guns and American Tactical Imports, Inc. over "trade dress infringements." The suit was settled on October 16, 2009, the outcome being that GSG will stop manufacturing the guns and ATI, Inc., will stop importing them. Existing stocks will be permitted to be sold until January 31, 2010, at which time all sales will cease. Support will continue for all previously sold rifles. (Heckler and Koch has instituted a spate of lawsuits lately against anyone copying any of the weapons they developed from the CETME, which is itself an outgrowth of the StG 45 assault rifle developed by the Wehrmacht in World War II.)[citation needed]

Fake Suppressor Reclassified

In January 2010, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ruled that the barrel shroud included with the GSG 5 SD is a sound suppressor (aka silencer) and therefore is regulated under the National Firearms Act. ATI, Inc. has instituted a recall of the now regulated item.[2].

My only fear is that ATF will try and label this as a non-sporting shotgun, and lump it in with title 2 guns like the rotary barrel shotguns. If they try and get away with it, wave goodbye to exports.

If it comes to Canada and works as suggested, I'm selling one or both of my twins to buy one.

I would assume that KelTec has worked with ATF during the development of this gun, and would not announce it publicly without it being approved.

Could this really be considered a bullpup shotgun, most of the magazine is in front of the pistol grip and not behind it.

Been thinking about this one since coming across this thread yesterday...

Judging by the size of my boner right now, and assuming that there are many million boners like it in the US waiting for this thing, I highly doubt we'd see it in the next 12-20 months based alone on US demand vs how fast KelTec can bang them out. Canada is typically far from a priority as far as new US guns go.

That is of course, assuming that they DO make it into the country lol.

I sure hope they do! :D
