Hey guys,
I'm watching a documentary called "Apocalypse - The Second World War", made in 2008 by National Geographic. My brother got it from a friend of his or something. Anyways, could any of you identify this firearm?

Reczny Karabin Maszynowy Browning wz28. 7.92mm
It is a Polish model of BAR machine gun. About 19000 made before 1939. Germans captured more then half of them. It has seen plenty of service with German second line formations
 
I think del Selins in Vernon has one on the display but it also can be a Belgian Model, I did not see it up close.
In the late 60s Polish army still had few in emergency war stores.

A very big step forward. The RKM I've examined (owned a C/A back in the "Golden Age" of the 80s) were very well constructed and heavier than the 1918 BAR, probably due to the heavy finned barrel, big fore end and wider, deeper buttstock. Polish Grunts of the 30s must have been very sturdy stock indeed. Had a folding dust cover for the mag well and another sliding one for the ejection port. Metal finish was quite fine and very well blued. The Orzel was large and deeply stamped on the top of the receiver and quite ornate looking compared to those found on Polish Mausers.

Wonder who owns it now?

Regarding the defense od Wizna against the Germans in 1939. Captain Raginis and his 720 held out for three days against over 40 to 1 odds against the Germans. History protrays the short fall of Poland as a walk over. Considering their numbers and equipment i beg to differ. You can see the BAR copy being used in an old polish movie in several youtube videos put to the song by Sabaton 40 to 1. :popCorn:

It happened in Danzig on Sep 1st. Movie is from 1967 so all the equipment with only one exception of anti-tank gun is totally accurate.

CSRG: Chauchat, Suterre, Ribeyrolle, Gladiateur.

Sort of a long-recoil French analog to the Lewis, 8mm Lebel, 20-round mag, but assembled with absolutely zero quality control.... and it needed some.

Read an evaluation of it that called it, "incomparably the worst light machinegun ever made".

STILL wanta try one out!
