Last February my wife bought me a 52 Tula for my birthday and one year and a lot of lurking on here and anouther board i am pretty much finished my build. I know alot of you don"t agree with this but here in Canada we can"t take an AR anywhere but the range and I wanted a "black" rifle that I could hunt, plink with anywhere I wanted. The sks is non-restricted here in Canada so it fits the bill. I have installed the spring loaded firing pin, the Marcus DBL mag release, the bolt mods have been done and the stock has been modified for take-down without removing the grip. I removed the front sight and sling lug to install the faux bull barrel, which for some reason makes it slighlty quieter. I also tapped the receiver cover to accept the four set screws on the tri-rail mount for the scope (it holds zero remarkably well even when removing and re-mounting the NC-star scope). The red dot is mounted at 45 degrees in front of the bolt (a-la-Jerry Miculak.) So thanks to you guys and the information I gathered here I can take a "black" rifle out for coyotes, deer, gopher, beavers etc... So here are a few pics of the rifle minus the custom tactical mag release I have planned. Cheers!!!!
