I have see sum advertisement in the US for short berral lever action rifle!!
I love to own one with a 12.5 inch barrel and something like 45acp were even 44 Magnum
and just over 26 inch total length making them nonrestricted!!
Kind of Canadian assault rifle lol

What I was trying to say was a short barrel lever action rifle we make a dandy Bush-rifle.
Spoke to Canadian ammo they said it could be done with enough interest.
I should have got the name of the guy I was you speaking to.
 
Never mind I give up.
I work in the Bush from norther BC and the Arctic.
I have used rifle in the pass to save my life when being attacked by angry critters.
Nothing better then a light rifle shorter the better.

rossi makes a lever action rifle in several calibers , my favorite being 454 casul /45colt in 16 , 20 and 24 inch barrels .

you could also take a rossi ranch hand , or a puma mares leg , and put a normal stock on it and have pretty much what your looking for .

I have always wanted a Model 94 Trapper but they command such a steep price. Saw a 14" barreled 30-30 model that would be so handy but it had collector value the would negate its usefulness and a kick around camp/truck gun.

The Rossi Ranch Hand and Mares Leg are likely to be classified as pistols here in Canada thus not eligible as a camp/truck gun.

I have agree that I would love a 12-14" barreled 44 mag lever gun. Cheap, mild report 44 special loads for plinking and full power 44 mag loads for game out to 100 yards. A 12" barrel would really get the full potential out of the .44 mag and overall length just over 26" would be a real handy rig.

Sadly with the prices I see floating around for the Mares Leg and Rossi Ranch Hand it would be much cheaper to by an overpriceg Win 94 Trapper.

Because of that work that I do I have a strong interest in firearms.
I have 32 years of experience handling firearms and believe I have a valid opinion and I can contribute to this site.
However I would like to thank those of you who have been polite
I am disappointed in some of you guys.
 
Look for the Marlin 1895 Davidson edition...it has a 16.5" bbl and you don't have to worry about angry critters with a .... 45 ACP...

I would rather push 400gr at 1500fps then 225 at 1500fps

If you want some protection make sure the cartridge will devastate bone and fully penetrate the animal with a FULL HEAVY bullet...

45/70, 450 marlin, will do both with relatively mild recoil. (in comparison to other bigbores)

I have blr in 450 marlin but sumtimes it is to long in sum helicopters dont have a much room and in havy brush it not bad but shorter is beter .I don like shootgun thow i alwase have one handy in camp eny rifle is better then no rifle
